Growing up inspired by my uncle, an architectural draftsman, I was captivated by the artistry he brought home. His tragic loss fueled my passion to continue his legacy, blending creativity and precision in every design. Today, I offer professional architectural drawing and stamping services, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and innovation.
Whether you need floor plans, elevations, or structural details, I deliver high-quality results tailored to your vision. Let’s build your dream together—crafted with the dedication of a story worth telling.
Hi There, I’m Barend Venter. I’m in the office furniture industry and use Sketchup regularly to model furniture for presentations to clients.
Hi I am Blaine Smith Jr
75 year old Building Contractor and designer and persistent dreamer & learner!
Professionally, I love using SketchUp to show customers my vision of their project.
Personally I use SketchUp to grasp how and Why things work!
I have always seen everything in 3D with SketchUp I can reveal those sights from my mind to others!
Between Above average and a little below Advanced as a user, I am not a developer.
Never been to a SketchUp 3DBasecamp.
I use 2016 IMac Catalina SketchUp 2023.
No links to share.
I am enthralled by the amazing talent that has designed this system!
My motto from an1913 Poem
"They said it ‘couldn’t be done’.
But he with a chuckle replied.
That “maybe it couldn’t”, but he would be one,
Who wouldn’t say so till he tried!
It’s usually a good idea to try and search the forum first, but sometimes, especially when you’re a beginner, it’s hard to know what things are called or the jargon for problems (“Z fighting” for example), so start a thread and ask away. If there is a thread already with the answer, a human will figure out what you’re talking about and point you to it.
Hi Alan. I’m a big fan. I’m trying different ways of contacting you for potential custom work - if you would be interested. You’ve created custom models for me before, years ago, at FF. Please let me know how I can best contact you. Cheers Niclas
Hi Niclas,
Thanks for the compliment. The work would depend very much on what you want and how quickly you need it. I effectively retired when FormFonts closed its doors, so I don’t do too much modelling any more; and we are heading off to sunny Sicily in a couple of weeks, so that might be a little limiting.
Anyway, let me know what you want and I’ll do my best…or maybe put you in touch with Gabriel Concha from FF who might also be able to help.
I don’t know whether you are aware of it, but I have been putting all my old models into collections on CG Trader, where they can be bought quite cheaply for permanent use. If any of those are of any use you can find links to them by going to 3d-figures.co.uk
I can also be contacted directly at akfraser@gmail.com
Cheers
Alan
Hello My name is Ian I am a Carpenter?Joiner for over 40 years
My name is Jake, from Tanzania
. I’m new to this software so i expect to use it in the farmstead planning and designing. I’m an Agricultural Engineer, being a famous modeling tool. I will be using Sketchup in modeling to enhance my design works at a short time.
I’m just a beginner, I have been using other CAD programs for a while. Not yet gone to a Sketchup 3D Basecamp.
I’m using a HP Elitebook, 16GB-RAM with 2.5ghz-CPU, but also I have installed Sketchup 2024 version.
I don’t have a 3D warehouse page, even Extensions or a website.
Sketchup seems to be a reliable modelling tool, I expect to learn through this platform.
I mostly prefer to use ![]()
Hello, I have been using Sketchup Web for about a year now to design house renovations and small wood projects. It has been incredibly useful. I recently upgraded to the Pro version to gain access to cut lists and diagrams. Have to admit, I am completely lost in this regard but I will continue to stumble through until I figure it out. Looking forward to learning from the community here and appreciate everyone’s patience and assistance. This is my current project:
Closet Complete w Components (6).pdf (82.0 KB)
Welcome.
Feel free to start a thread to ask specific questions so you don’t have to stumble through. We’re here to help.
As for cutlists, there are a few different extensions that can help. Probably the most popular currently is OpenCutList which has quite a few features. There are others, too. And as far as diagrams, OCL caan help with that as well but you’ll probably find LayOut to be useful. Work through the tutorials at learn.sketchup.com
I am Haries. As a designer, I am very helped by Sketchup and also SketchUp Lsyout. But currently I am looking for a solution for the correct use of Sketchup lsyout. Slow, slow response.
Welcome to this forum @Haries ,
This thread is just for introducing yourself, not for asking questions.
You can always start a new thread in the appropriate section, or you can search the forum by clicking on the magnifying glass top-right og the page.
This is what it found when I used “Layout slow” as search words:

I am Deborah, a recently retired design consultant. Have used SKP for many, many years and it was perfect for most of my work, but now trying the “free” version in retirement. I work on Apple devices, on a beautiful (yellow) Mac M1 desktop. It is personal projects I now work on with SKP.
Hi everyone, my name is Riad. I’m an Architectural Designer and 3D Modeler with over 14 years of experience using SketchUp along with other rendering tools. I specialize in architecture, interior design, and landscape design. I use SketchUp both professionally and personally—most of my work involves designing buildings and interior spaces for clients, but I also enjoy playing around with random creative ideas for fun. I’ve been using SketchUp since my college days, and what really hooked me was the intuitive interface—it just made 3D modeling enjoyable from day one. I’d say I’m at an advanced level now, and I use SketchUp 2021 Pro on a custom-built PC with an i9-285K processor, RTX 5090, and 96GB of RAM. I also really enjoy helping others with their SketchUp needs—I actually used to teach SketchUp for several years, and I’m always happy to share what I’ve learned. While I haven’t made it to a 3D Basecamp yet, it’s definitely on my bucket list. I’ve shared a few models on the 3D Warehouse here:

https://www.Dimensionsinc.net. I really appreciate this forum—it’s one of the few online spaces where people are genuinely helpful and supportive. Oh, and my favorite emoji? Gotta go with
—because there’s always something new to learn here!
If the free version comes up a little short, there is SketchUp Go, the paid web/iPad version that does a little more than the free web version, but not as much as Pro.
One trimester while teaching SketchUp for Schools (a variation of the paid web version), I showed students how to do a classic three view drawing directly in the web version without having LayOut which is what you would typically use in the Pro version. I put it in a post here:
Thanks, RTCool. That is exactly what I did.
Hey, I’m Joe. I’m retired from a truck assembly plant.
I have used Sketchup for several years for my own personal use in projects around my house. I am self taught, but have watched several tutorials as well as the YouTube channel AAron hosts where I have been able to get better. The most beneficial thing I get from Sketchup is being able to model things in my home so that I can move things around on the computer to see if it will work before dragging furniture and exercise equipment around for real, (small rooms). I also like to be able to show my wife in 3D what I’m thinking as what I explain and what she sees in her head don’t always align. Anyhow, Sketchup is a great hobby I really enjoy.

That’s s good one.
What I see in my head is often something that cannot be realized in 3D or in the real world - that is one of the reasons for modelling things.
Glad to be part of the comunity, fbeen using PRo since 2017 , just upgraded to 2025 having a lot of issues. Bug splats freezing render issues , a bunch.
