SketchUp for Schools

SketchUp for Schools is the core SketchUp modeler now available in a web browser for any Primary and Secondary School signed up with G Suite for Education.


LayOut is a 2D drawing program that comes with SketchUp Pro. This tool is fantastic for communicating your SketchUp designs with others. If you're interested in talking about better ways to use LayOut, share a problem you have with the software, or want to learn more about LayOut, this is the place to be.

SketchUp for Web

This category is for all issues, questions, and feedback on the Internet-based application SketchUp for Web, which is included in all subscriptions.


If you’ve ever been asked “How do I do this” and then proceeded to answer the question – then this is the forum for you! The “Tutorials” category is a place to create posts explaining how to do things, a place to answer the question from another Category and then refer back to often. You’re invited to use inserted images, inserted 3D Models (from the 3D Warehouse of course) or to just attach example files. To try to keep this as clear as possible, a handful of guidelines:

There is a cornucopia of functionality for SketchUp available by community created Extensions but sometimes it's hard to find them or even harder to find a way to support them. You can use this category to announce your Extension, Describe your existing Extension or to answer questions and technical problems when they arise.


The Developers category is the place to discuss Ruby scripts, the Ruby API, the SketchUp SDK or other plugins for use with SketchUp.

Corner Bar

The Corner Bar is a place for folks who are passionate about the SketchUp Community but don't necessarily have some SketchUp-y to talk about. Another way to think about it, this is for "Off Topic" conversations to happen.

SketchUp Labs

SketchUp Labs is our new feature playground. Starting with Live Components we will bring some new features we’re experimenting with to these forums so folks can try them out and offer feedback. It’s like beta but more. You can post your questions and issues specific to the Labs here, but the real fun will be in the sub-categories for each specific effort. Extending SketchUp

There are many great applications that can extend SketchUp functionality beyond its core or even the Extensions that have been created for it. This category gives a home to these companions. The topics may range from Rendering packages, machining tools or just applications unrelated to SketchUp such as graphic design or page layout.

SketchUp for iPad

SketchUp for iPad is our new editor exclusively for the iPad. It includes many of the features of SketchUp Desktop and SketchUp Web, but also takes advantage of the Apple Pencil and touch screen functionality of the iPad.
