@trent would be a better person to ask.
OK so I upgraded my team to 2023.1
LayOut seems to have improved text handling.
First, it’s faster…less lag when inputting text into the text box.
Second, when editing, the text doesnt jump around so much. At least at a common zoom level.
Here’s the text when zoomed Out

And here’s the same text while editing - note the word “existing” skips down to the next line:

but when zoomed in it seems to be quite consistent:

And when editing

A bug or crash…what does this mean?

Thanks for the help!! That certainly did it…
Much appreciated.

well. praise the lord - finally after agonising years in pain i have the feeling that 2023.1.315 now fixed the startuptime … for it SU startuptime is now substantially lower and at a pace where im lucky ![]()
thank you so much dear sketchup team!
And a buggy file for @colin to check out (sorry no Bugsplat…just an exit crash )
Try opening this in 2023.1 and Exploding or editing it.

Somehow I feel that in 2023, many many probles can be answered by “you should get a mac”
(a sweet revenge after years of “duh, get a pc”)

it exploded fine on macos. I exploded it once, then made a copy and exploded it all the way.
Try to deactivate your enscape plugin maybe ? it failed to load something in the first line, could be the culprit.
Thanks - not sure what you did but it works for me now (both versions, exploded and unexploded)
I’d tried many times on 2022 and 2023…so may it is a PC thing!
We never used to have these problems on the Commodore Amiga 500. All problems happened since the internet came along, and ipods.
this should be engraved on the door of every IT office.
The error is complaining about Enscape - have you tried reinstalling that?
hi sketchupers, today I try render some scenes, from another files from trimble vizualizer, but the result was empty, white screen,
when I did screenshot from TV tool,
then I saw in folder, & there was white png,
before previous 2023 TV works,
does anybody have like this issue?
I’m mac user
Hey, I created a dedicated topic here
so we can look for an answer without loosing ourselves in the 2023.1 messages ![]()
I could not get last years upgrade to load on my Laptop. My Desktop was over 5 years so it would not work on that either. When I tried to get it to load it said too many seats? So I paid three hundred $ for nothing. 2023 was easy to load, I don’t use the desktop for obvious reasons. Lot of bad programing going on in sake of hacking. Making software companies greedy villains to small business. So far no problem with 2023?
Today I noticed that the version of the installer has changed. Does anyone know what changes happened between 2023-1-315-108 and 2023-1-319-110? The release notes don’t seem to have changed.
I read on another topic that now the “big icons” work again on PC. anything else ?
same on mac, 314 became 318. but it’s an update minor enough (on mac at least) that when asking my SU to check for it, it didn’t even see it.
Hi nmason, i checked 23.1 against of 21 (this is build before we adjusted the presurve scale behavior) and I do see a behavior change - I will open a bug on this.
One thing I do notice is if I hold alt down before selecting the vp and resizing that the vp changes as I would expect. See if you get a similar result.
Trent
The Icons have a color codes built in if you look carefully!
Also some tools are red too.
Hi Trent, thanks - and yes, holding alt before selecting the vp does not shift the vp, the issue is only when pressing alt after selecting the vp.
it’s not certain… It’s faster, because by default the new display settings are on medium resolution. This is not really an optimization of the software itself, but a degradation of the display. However, we have fast machines and we use other software that displays such images and drawings very quickly.
New user interface is terrible.
Just letting you know that the upgraded toolbar colors are garish and cheapen the look of SketchUp. Can we get an option to use the old toolbar? The mix of blues and red is a loser and IMHO does not enhance the product one bit. Long time SketchUp user since version 1 with @Last software.
