Sketchup for Schools Caught in Authentication Loop

Hi @chip.fleckenstein and @jstephens, thanks for the posts. I’ll try and address both of you in a single post so just look for your username for the part that matters to your situation.

First up is jstephens. As you said in your post, an admin (or super admin if you are using google) is necessary for the app to deploy properly. There is to my knowledge, no way around that requirement.You are also correct that it can be essentially hidden from some groups, so you should be fine to just deploy the app and restrict it as needed after the fact.

As for you chip.fleckenstein, I was able to locate everything I needed in your initial post and was able to add you to the database a few minutes ago. By the time you can see this post, you will be all set to deploy the app if you have not already done so. Just make sure not to skip any steps as that can cause issues later on and be sure to use a super admin if you are using Google. Hopefully you and your students enjoy using SketchUp as much as I do!

Finally, if either of you have additional questions or need help deploying the app or troubleshooting it, please feel free to start a new thread and use the @ command to get my attention. I am always happy to help out!

We are also having the same issue. From admin console we have enabled the Sketchup for Schools, and can install the app from Marketplace now. But when the students are trying to sign in to the app using the School account, it’s coming as a loop like this. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Hi @madhushi.weerasinghe, thanks for the post. I am happy to work with you to get your issue resolved. There are a number of possible causes of the issue so we will need to run through some steps to figure out what we need to do to get your issue fixed.

First up, I need to know if you are using Google or Microsoft as your sign in. There are different steps that we can look at depending on that answer.

Also, can you share your domain with me so I can check our firewall settings to ensure that is not the issue? If you are not comfortable sharing your domain on the forums, you can send it to me via a private message.

Finally and most importantly, can you tell me if you are a higher education school or not? I need to know this as we have different procedures for higher education schools that we need to run through.

Thank you very much for the response. We were able to fix the problem by allowing cookies and pop up windows of the browser.

Hi @tkindall, thanks for the post and sorry to hear that you are having difficulty with the app again. I just re-added you to the database so I can confirm that everything is working as intended on our end. If you are still getting an error please let me know exactly what the error message is or if you are getting a login loop let me know that is what you are seeing.

Once I have that, we can troubleshoot a few potential solutions.

I seem to be stuck in this loop as well. I made a separate post yesterday but no one responded to me; I may have made it in the wrong section. It was just working for everyone on March 17th, now it no longer does Our domain is: @schoolalive.com

Hi everyone, thanks for the posts and sorry to hear that you are having difficulty with SketchUp for Schools. I don’t think we pushed any updates out and I just pinged our servers and test environments and they seem to be reporting that everything is working as intended. I’ll reach out to someone shortly to confirm that we did not make any changes recently.

In the meantime, I’ll run through the usual troubleshooting steps with everyone here who is experiencing technical difficulties.

The first step is to clear cached files and cookies. Go ahead and clear both of those out if you have not done so already. While it is unlikely that this alone will fix it, it ensures that we will have a clean start for troubleshooting things going forward.

Once you have done that please make sure that third party cookies and popups are allowed for our site. We need to use a popup to complete the login process and cookies are needed to configure the app correctly.

Once you have done that, use the @ command on the forums to get my attention and we can start the next steps of troubleshooting.

@CaseyG Hi Casey, could you please whitelist ddsd40.org and stu.ddsd40.org? We are a K-12 institution. Thanks in advance!
