Sketchup for Schools Caught in Authentication Loop

Can you add my school to the whitelist as well? rchs.on.ca

@CaseyG I am caught in the authentication loop. @lcsc.k12.in.us

Hi everyone, thanks for the posts. I am happy to add all of you to the database of approved domains but please keep in mind that this may not solve the issue if you are not getting the ā€œAre you in the right place?ā€ message. Now that all of that is out of the way, on with the post. I’ll address all of you in this single post so be sure to read it carefully.

First up @Kyle_dk @Luimes and @valesj. I was able to find all the info I needed on your sites to get you added to our database of approved domains. The database should have updated by now so you will be all set to deploy the app if you have not already done so. Just make sure that you deploy the app correctly as an improper deployment can cause issues later on.

Additionally, please let me know if you are running into any issues now that you are in the database. If you are, please include the following information in your post as it will help me to help you faster.

  1. What environment you deployed the app (Google or Microsoft).
  2. What OS you are running.
  3. What browser you are running
  4. The exact error message or a description of the issue you are seeing (bonus points if you include screenshots)

Finally, please use the @ command to get my attention. I am trying to reply to as many threads as I can, but sometimes I miss one. Using the @ command sends me an email notification that is a lot harder for me to miss.

@CaseyG Hi Casey. I’m stuck in the Auth loop too. I have tried removing the app in Admin Console, readding, clearing cookies, etc.

Can you add sfprep.org and davisnm.org to the whitelist?
Thanks,
John

Hello, we’re having the authentication loop with our Google logins as well. Could you add ours? @CaseyG

Our domain is: rocori.k12.mn.us

Thank you!

Please whitelist our school as well: bramptoncs.org

Will you add @iccastelvetro.edu.it? We are caught in the Google authentication loop right now. Thanks.

Another one to add: stephenperse[.]com

Hi everyone, sorry I missed this thread. I’ll address all of you in a single post so just look for your username for the art relevant to you.

First up is @JohnUtsey. I am happy to get you added to our database but I need to verify that you are a k-12 school and not higher education. I was a bit confused by the two different links you shared as one seemed to be k-12 and the other might not be. Can you confirm that you are a k-12 school?

As for you @michalskib, @rsommer and @rlr, I was able to locate your sites and find everything I needed. You are all set to deploy the app if you have not already done so. Just make sure not to skip any steps as you deploy the app as that can cause issues later on.

Finally I have to address you @ThebigbugICC. I addressed your post in a different thread so please refer to that thread and reply with what I need there and I’ll get you added right away.

I am a 7-12, DavisNM is a scholarship we support, and about half of the staff also teach for us.
Cheers, John

Thanks for the reply @JohnUtsey. I’ll get you added right now. Just make sure that each domain deploys the app as they will both have to install the app separately in order to access it.

Hi @CaseyG
We are also having the same issue signing in (Microsoft Login: loops). We are a public K-12 Primary School from Bülach, Switzerland. Could you please add @buelach.ch (teachers) and @edu.buelach.ch (students) to the whitelist? Thank you very much.

We are having the same issue as well, multiple computers and users with the sketchup for schools app. if I use the web version I can sign in but the app is stuck in an authentication loop that wasn’t an issue yesterday.

Hi @CaseyG,

My name is ƀlex Vicedo and I am a technology teacher at Colegio Santa Marƭa de la Hispanidad, in Spain.
For years we have been working a couple of practices in Sketchup for Schools in order to develop their spatial vision and that they can mature designing in their excellent tool, but for about 4 days, we can not access neither me nor any of my students to the tool, because in the Microsoft login we are left in loop in the desktop application (and online as well). Our domain is @smhispanidad.com, could you please include it in your whitelist to be able to continue with our practices? Thank you very much in advance!

Hi everyone, thanks for the posts. I’ll address everyone in a single post so just look for your username for the part that matters most to you.

First up is @Region10-KM. If you were able to log in to the app in the past then my guess is that something may have changed that is affecting the app’s ability to log in. To narrow down the potential cause I need some additional information. Specifically, I need to know the following:

  1. Are you using any third party antivirus or firewall apps? They can cause issues sometimes, especially GoGuardian.
  2. Is it affecting all students or just a few?
  3. Are you using Google or Microsoft to deploy the app?
  4. What operating system are you using and what browser are you using?
Let me know the answers to these questions and I’ll try to get you an answer on where to look to fix the issue.

As for you @avicedo, and @psb81 I can confirm that you are not in the database and while I am happy to add you, I am fairly certain that doing so will not fix the issue. Because you were able to access the app before, my guess is that something changed on your side that is preventing the app from logging in correctly. The usual suspects are third party firewalls/antivirus software. If you can, please let me know the same things I asked Region10-KM.

From reading the posts it looks like all 3 of us are having the same issue. The web version of SketchUp for schools accessible at SketchUp. I can sign in there with student accounts and my own. If i try to sign in with any of those accounts with the Sketchup for Schools Windows Store app which was working fine Wednesday the 14th and starting on Thursday the 15th suddenly computers that were previously working and new ones are stuck in a login loop. We use Microsoft. You can choose your windows account to sign in, it then says it’s redirecting your back like it succeeded but instead of pushing forward to the landing page it opens back up the screen to have you pick your Microsoft account. Clearly it’s not an account allowed issue as the web version works fine but the app suddenly doesn’t. I push the app out through intune/Endpoint and it is installing without an issue it’s just logging in that is a problem.
We have not changed anything on our systems the day this started. I’ve checked CrowdStrike on a bunch of computers having this issue and see no notifications of any blocks, no firewall blocks showing and I get stuck in the same loop if I bring the laptop offsite and try from home internet. This affects all users but ONLY in the windows store app, the web version they can log into with their school account. The Edge and Chrome browsers work, the windows store app does not.
I have also tested on my staff machine that does not have the student web filter, and it is having the same issue, so it is not the student web filter either.
when checking the … settings in the top right of the app I’m noticing that it is showing my edge browser settings and extensions but when i click show app settings i get an error that edge is blocking the page. I’m wondering if this issue is due to an edge security update that doesn’t like the way the app is trying to use the Microsoft account login and redirects.

@CaseyG Hi Casey, I tried again and it’s still giving me the login loop. I also haven’t gotten a confirmation from you in regards to adding our domain to your database.

Thanks in advance!

Thanx @CaseyG ,

I will respond to you on each of the points, as it has been something that has happened almost overnight, and both in the school itself, as well as on the students’ personal computers.

1.- Initially we did not use any new ones that we have included in the last week.

2.- It affects all students, both at school and at home.

3.- Our suite is from Microsoft exclusively.

4.- Microsoft Windows 10, and we use it by Chrome (only works in non-private session), and mostly the Sketchup for Schools application downloaded directly from Microsoft Store.

Thank you Casey

Hi there. Just signed up via O365. near as I can tell I’ve set up the groups correctly on our end but, infinite looping still.
if we need to be whitelisted
our domain is @scs.vic.edu.au
Currently a K-6 school.
