Viewport shifting resolved with LO 2023.1

Hello all,

In the 2022.1 release, we made changes to how viewports were handled by establishing a more logical camera target and preventing “Preserve Scale” from being turned off to create a better experience when entering a SketchUp model viewport. However with this improvement we discovered significant issues when the new camera target did not match what was originally passed in from SketchUp (by even adjusting the viewport size) so updating a model reference could/would cause a shift as the two camera targets realigned.

With the 2023.1 release we have implemented a fix to address existing LayOut files that had this condition by marking the Camera location as being updated in the UI. This way, making any change in the SketchUp model inspector or updating the SketchUp model will prevent the viewport from shifting. New files moving forward should not exhibit this same issue.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused many of you and please let us know if you see any issues.

Trent on behalf of the entire LayOut team.

Thanks so much Trent! To me, this was one of the biggest issues with '22 & '23. Glad you found a fix!

You bet Nick. Please let us know if you run into any issues.

Still experiencing this randomly in LO 23.1.341 what am I missing?

Me too! I’m having the same problem, after a few months of it not happening. I tried to find some news about this in other posts, but I couldn’t find it.
