Transparent textures desintegrate in Sketchup 2024

I have the same issue with 0x antialiasing on. It only happens when you have 2 transparant surfaces overlapping in a view. When you only use 1 surface it works fine.

Another issue with transparency. See the egdes in the background. The windows in the middle have the default texture at the back, the others are transparent at the back.

Edit: not sure this is a bug though, it could come in handy.

So far this problem appears to be exclusively confined to the M3 chipset. Has anyone with an M3 tried using the old graphics engine or playing with fast feedback options? Curious.

I tested this all in 2023 and 2024. Basically the old renedering engine isā€¦ the old rendering engine, these issues then disappear.

Of course it wonā€™t be perfetc on the first day of releaseā€¦

Nope, turning of fast feedback doesnā€™t help.

Iā€™m having similar problems with my M3 Pro chip.

I noticed slowdowns, then suddenly everything froze and I had to restart Sketchup. I thought it was the ambient occlusion, but after several tests, itā€™s the transparent materials. When I remove them, or switch to x0 antialiasing, I no longer have any problems.

Same problems here on a M3 Max and anything to do with transparency, so for now back to the old rendering engineā€¦ Too bad tho, I see an enormous speed improvement in handeling files (if they donā€™t have glass etc.) with the new engine.

As well as the issues with transparency, attempting to switch to X-ray mode causes the model file I am working on to freeze. M3 MacBook Pro also.

Not when iā€™m in x0 antialiasing. Can you try it ?

Hi, I donā€™t have a mac but a laptop but an AMD GPU and I am also having issues with transparency display. The difference is that I either have 100% opaque or 100% transparent surfaces. X ray mode doesnā€™t display anything at all.
Anyone with something similar happening?

Yes you are right - if you turn anti-aliasing off X-ray mode does work normally.

Also having major issues with transparent materials. Looks our company will be going back to 2023 as we donā€™t have time to be beta testersā€¦ :frowning:

Also noted that dual monitor support still blows. Context menu opening on other monitor even though app is maximized within itā€™s own monitor.

AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5875U with Radeon Graphics 2.00 GHz

For the issue with the context menu being on the wrong screen, what are the resolutions of your monitors, the scaling values, and the arrangement of the monitors?

Despite the supportā€™s wonderful answer ā€œjust stick with the classic engineā€, it looks like itā€™s an AMD GPU support problem with the new engine.

Monitor 2 (upper position), 100%, 3440 x 1440
Monitor 1 (lower position), 150%, 1920 x 1080

This issue just got worse for us, when we use the old engine everything kinda works fine, BUT Vray doesnā€™t agree and just says there are no transparant (openings) in sight, so we canā€™t render anythingā€¦ What can we do now???

Shall we expect this issue to be resolved soon?

Iā€™ve had this before - V-ray has converted it to itā€™s own geometry and materials before you see this.
Iā€™ve had this on models before and itā€™s taken a bit of faffing around to figure it out.

Feel free to share your model if you want someone else to have a look on a different configuration.

We were looking at a more serious issue yesterday, and the same fix for that one seems to help with this one as well. So yes, there should be a fix, Iā€™m not certain yet when that will be.

Hi Adam, this only started on SU 2024, on 2023 it worked fine. Besides that the glass material was from Chaos Cosmos, so that should be fineā€¦
