Toolbar problem, and disappearing measuring lines

Hi all,
Since I updated to SKP24 I see that the toolbar settings aren’t saved. When I close Sketchup and open it again a day later, it comes back with the icons, which I don’t want, I want my working space as large as possible, and I do everything with shortcuts. All my functions are in keyboard shortcuts, only a few are in the toolbar (there are no more shortcuts available  My second 27" screen does the Enscape things, and my third screen does the materials window and all the other windows. Is this a known problem? Again not a very big deal, just wondering if I’m missing a setting.

And second, will the problem with the disappearing measuring lines in top-view in parallel setting be solved? Or is it solved in SKP25? I’m always a very late updater to the last version because of fear… I updated several times to fast in the past, with the known problems of the combination newest Mac OS and newest SKP version…

I know I will get the response that Sketchup is designed to draw in perspective mode, but I have my own way, and I worked like this in all previous Sketchup versions.

that one is known since the early beta of the new engine, I too draw stuff in parallel 2d mode (especially the early steps) and using the new engine, the drawing sometimes appears below the existing shapes while you draw. once you click, it appears at the expected place.

it’s better now (it used to be all drawing, now it’s basically just guides), what I do is I do a very slight rotation. meaning I’m not technically in top view any more, yet it still looks like it. and it’s visually fine.

not sure if / when it’s gonna be fixed, the team is busy working on the new UI (basically PC sketchup on mac) and I wouldn’t be surprised if it got fixed then.

wait, how do you get rid of the icons ?
I can only pick between icons of icons & text. I’m in SU25 though, but sequoia too.

I do the same :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: But it’s a bit annoying to have to do that. Because you have to rotate very often.

The getting rid of the icons setting:

right mouse-click on the toolbar

I see it’s here also:

top is 2025, bottom is 2024.

what version of Sequoia ? I’m on 15.5 now.

Well, I can’t really say more about it here, but in the early labs version, it is fixed.
you can learn about it - and apply if you want - here

keep in mind though it’s more of an alpha build, there are a lot of broken - not yet fixed in this released - elements.
but it means it’ll probably be fixed with v26 or before.
(unless they manage to re-break it)

:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I will look into that!

SketchUp has to use the latest version of the macOS SDK, and Apple removed some options from the customize toolbar menu. I’m not sure how you have the text only option in SketchUp 2024. For me, 2023 and later don’t have that option. I have to go back to 2022 to see that version of the menu.

I have this option on both of my Macs, Mac Studio M1 Max, MacBook Air M2. Both Sequoia 15.5. Sketchup 24.0.554.
