Or you can use @brewsky 's plugin bSDD - SKC/classifications through buildingSMART Data Dictionary Extension
Quick question, my ifc manager doesnt export anything… no matter what setting i put, theres no file saved afterwards
(note, im even using 5d plus to manage the basic ifc tags and ifc type) my objective is to export an manageable ifc file for engineer use afterwards, if anybody can help i appreciate it
thanks
I’m currently looking into an issue where the export fails when there is no complete project structure, try to nest your model in a IfcSite, IfcBuilding and IfcBuildingStorey component for now.
Thanks for the quick awnser, ill try that to see if it solves
Have a great day
New release Sketchup IFC Manager
Users of 5.x versions are strongly advised to upgrade to this latest release.
Fixes some transformation bugs which caused objects without a full model hierarchy to appear in random places.
in the latest version 5.5.0 there seems to be an issue that even when you choose to export ifc 2x3 it will export ifc 4x3.
I guess that’s a problem for those who cannot import the new protocol. A client of mine got error messages importing.
where as in version 5.4.0 I will only get fit 4.0, even if choosing ifc 2x3.
I also dont understand why it says it exports 1 building storey, while I clearly have to objects (storeys) that have the ifcbuildingstorey definition. sketchup info also says 2 groups with that definition, and ifcmanager does not list them at all, and does not provide a pulldown menu for ifc2x3 objects it seems.
That’s strange, I can export IFC2x3 and IFC4 without any problems with 5.5.0 on windows.
Can you try completely removing the plugin from the plugins folder and then reinstall?
I think it should be here:
~/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2024/SketchUp/Plugins
remove the folder “bt_ifcmanager”
If that does not work, can you share your model in a PM?
I will try to do a little test om Mac tonight, see if I can find any differences there…
I guess it won’t be the reason but I’ll mention it just in case. When the IFC scheme is changed, we sometimes close the window without pressing the “save” button so the export is done with what was previously listed.
It has happened to me sometimes, especially because if the floating window is small the button is not seen.
Exporting your model using IFC2x3 works ok for me using 5.5.0 on Mac and Windows
I also get 3 building storeys (2 groups classified as IfcBuildingStorey, those get the group name, I would advise to use Components for the model structure because that gives more control over naming etc.)
A fresh plugin install is the first thing I would test.
I noticed that on Mac you can also find the sketchup directory from the Sketchup Settings → Files, when clicking the folder icon behind Components/Materials/Templates/Classifications opens a Sketchup folder, one folder level ‘up’ you will find the Plugins folder, remove the ‘bt_ifcmanager’ folder before restarting and reinstall using the extension manager
Thanks. I’ll test what you advice below.
