Thank you, We are using Google and ChromeBooks. When I moved my test student to an OU that doesn’t have age restrictions, I am able to run the app. Which makes me believe it is an age restriction issue on your end.
Thanks for letting me know @arharrison. Google environments require the app to be deployed via a super admin. Just deploying the app via a regular admin won’t work. Can you verify that the app was deployed via a super admin?
Would you be able to add our domain as well?

Hi Casey,
Like @arharrison above, when we move a student to a Google OU without an age restriction, they are able to get in. When in an OU that is marked as under 18, they are not able to get in. I am a super admin, and I was the one that deployed the app. We are going on 2+ weeks of not being able to login to Sketchup for Schools. Can you verify that there are no possible issues with age restriction settings on your end? Thanks!
Hi everyone, thanks for the posts. I will attept to answer everyone in a single post so just lok for your username for the part that matters the most to your situation.
First I’ll address you @ccsdcavs. I can get you added to the database right now as you included everything I needed in your post and I was able to verify you are a k-12 school or district via your website. By the time this post is up, you will be all set to deploy the app if you have not already done so. Just make sure not to skip any steps as you deploy the app as that can cause issues later on.
As for you @dsbaad, I can confirm that we are not restricting anything via age on our end. We don’t even have access to that information. I am guessing that something somewhere in your internal settings is affecting your ability to log in. Unfortunately, without the ability to see exactly what settings you are using or if you have any extra firewalls set up I have no idea where to look. I’ll ask our expert if she has any ideas but we may need to set up a support call to resolve this.
Finally, I’ll ask you again @arharrison, can you confirm that you deployed the app via a super admin?
Edit
Hi again everyone! I just got back from talking to our expert and it looks like Google rolled out a change that they did not document or notify us about and it may be affecting your ability to access the app. We are already working on a hotfix and will try and roll it out as soon as we can. If you followed all the directions in the documentation to deploy the app, just wait a little longer while we get things done and deploy the fix.
Edit 2:
Fix has been rolled out. try running through the steps that Tori_SU just posted below.
Yes. This was deployed as Super Admin. We still cannot access the app as a student.
@dsbaad SketchUp for Schools should be available (and is designed for use) to both age groups under the Google designations so if that’s causing issues we’d like to help you get to the bottom of it. Google recently implemented a change in settings that may require a manual review of your applications that are outside of the direct Google ecosystem. It’s possible that apps can be turned on for everyone but still require a review.
To verify that SketchUp for Schools has been deployed correctly, when signing into your admin console please navigate to the Apps menu and then select “Additional Google services”.
Under the Additional Google Services menu you will then be shown all apps that need additional confirmation for users under 18 years of age.
Under the “Consent status” column you will then be able to verify whether or not additional consent is required. As shown below you can see that it is possible for an app to be “ON for Everyone” but still require additional consent.
To confirm access to a particular app, you will need to hover below the “Actions” column and select the extended menu, then select “Confirm consent”.
Once this has been completed the Consent status should show as being Confirmed, after which access to the app should be restored.
We understand that changes like these can be frustrating and appreciate you reaching out and sharing your experience. If you continue to see access issues please let us know and we’ll do our best to assist you in addressing them.
Thank you for this response @Tori_SU. Really appreciate the detail and step-by-step instructions, but we had confirmed consent for everyone prior, and upon double checking it, this does not appear to be the issue. However, after some further troubleshooting, our issue does not appear to be linked by age. It could possibly be due to a GoGuardian issue, as the same OUs who are not successfully logging in are also the same OUs who have GoGuardian associated with them. This just occurred a few weeks ago - could you provide any insight into anything happening in the background that a student logging into Sketch Up for Schools via Google authentication might be running into that would be blocked by GoGuardian? We’ll keep looking at things on our end, but any thoughts would be great. Thanks!
Thank you for checking on that @dsbaad, I’m sorry it wasn’t that easy!
I’m not intimately familiar with GoGuardian, but from what I understand it introduces its own set of access controls so it seems entirely possible that it’s catching something. Do you know if it interferes at all with the use of either popups or third party cookies? One of our recent releases included updates to our Google login flow and it’s possible that may have reset default settings for your accounts. In order to complete the login process with Google both popups and third party cookies need to be enabled in the browser, so if it’s possible that GoGuardian blocks either of those it could be preventing your students from getting through.
