Hi @jay.d, thanks for the post. we have a new potential patch we are working to get finished up and that should solve the issue if it is what I think it is. I’ll send you a private message with a link to the patch so you can test it on one of the computers to see if it works with the new patch.
If it works then you are welcome to use the testing version until we get the patch rolled out to the rest of our users. If it does not, we may need to schedule a support call so we can get some additional information about the issue so we can develop a better patch.
Either way, check your inbox in the next hour for a message from me with the link.
Hello Casey,
Thanks for your email. I forwarded it to Andrew, and this was his message:
‘Could you ask Casey where the patch is? The link they sent is just the login page.’
Hi @jay.d, thanks for the post. The page I linked you is a special login page that has the test patch applied to it. Can you try logging in to it and let me know if that works at all on one of the computers that was not working?
Edit: The patch has been applied to the main build of SketchUp for Schools as of a few minutes ago. It should no longer be nesesery for you to log in via the special link I sent you. Can you try logging in to the main build?
Hi @phungkv2118201340, thanks for the post. I am happy to work with you to get you added to the database of approved domains but I need to know a few things first.
Specifically, I need to know the domain you want added and if you are a k-12 school or not. I also could use a link to your website if you have one.
Once I have all of that I can start the process of adding you.
Hello Casey, I’ve tried 3 different models of Chromebook and was able to login successfully on the first attempt. We will follow up with the teacher to have him try it and ensure it meets his needs. Thank you!
We are experiencing this issue as well (grey loading screen even with proper permissions with Pop-ups and proper Google Admin setup for SketchUp based on all instruction videos we have followed). It worked the previous quarter, around January/February, but now that the new students are going into SketchUp this quarter, it is not.
We power washed one device, and when the student logged in the first time it appeared to work, but when we switched to a new assignment in SketchUp the loop started again and they could no longer load the project.
We would be grateful to be added to an approved domain list if possible, we are a k-8 school.
Do you know when the patch is looking to be pushed out that might address this?
Hi @jspivey, we pushed the update to the servers on the 25th so it should be working. I am not sure what the cause might be. If you are using Google and are getting the “Are you in the right place?” message, adding you to the database of approved domains would fix it right away but if it is a login loop, I am not so sure that it would help.
Regardless, I am happy to work with you to get you added or make sure that your entry in the database is correct. Just let me know what domain you use and I’ll get it done righrt away.
I’ll also reach out to an expert and see if we can get some ideas on what might be wrong. If you are sure you have all the settings correct for the deployment (super admin and all that) and are sure that you have all the user level permissions correct too, we may need to do a support call sometime to get this resolved.
Since the patch is out and it seems to be resolved for others I am going to triple check my Google Admin settings and reach back out if I cant resolve things!
Our two domains would be @aspenviewacademy.org and @s.avak8.org
Just to update, I tried again and took a video of the login process, and as mentioned above, there is a split-second where a pop-up appears before the loop occurs and the grey loading screen appears, and it is the “Are you in the right place” message.
I am hoping when our domain is added, that is what fixes the issue. I went ahead and also re-did the setup again, and ensured pop-ups are enabled, specifically for https://edu.sketchup.com, so I am fairly certain we are okay on our end.
Hi @rbabakulyyev, thanks for the post and sorry to heart you are having difficulty with SketchUp for Schools. I am happy to add your domain to our database of domains. I just need to get confirmation that you are a k-12 school. I am pretty sure you are, but we need confirmation from you or your website before we can add you to said database.
Additionally, if you have used SketchUp before and it suddenly stopped, my guess is that it is not going to be fixed by adding you to the database and that it may be related to other settings like popups and third party cookies being blocked for our site. I would recommend checking those settings when you have a chance.
Anyway let me know if you are k-12 or not and we can go from there.
Hi @rbabakulyyev, I got you added to the database a little while ago so you should be all set now. Go ahead and deploy the app when you are able and you are all set to go! Just make sure that you don’t skip any steps as you deploy the app as that can cause issues later on.. If you are still seeing issues, make sure you also have enabled popups for our site and third party cookies. They are required for the login process to resolve correctly.
I hope you and your students enjoy using SketchUp as much as I do!
Hi @arharrison and @jspivey, thanks for the posts. I will address both of you in a single post so just look for your username for the part that matters the most to your request.
I’ll start off with you @arharrison I was able to get you added to the database a few minutes ago and you are all set to deploy the app if you have not already done so. Just make sure you don’t skip any steps as you deploy the app as that can cause issues later on when students try and sign on. If you need help deploying the app please let me know what you are using to deploy the app (Google or Microsoft) and I can link you a video that outlines all the steps.
As for you @jspivey, I can verify that you are already in the database and everything seems to be working on our end. If you are still seeing an issue on your end, my first guess as to the issue would be that students don’t have popups and/or cookies enabled for our site. Blocking either of those will prevent the login process from resolving correctly. Can you check those settings and let me know what you see?
