SketchUp 2026 is here!

SketchUp 2026 is here!

We’re excited to announce that SketchUp 2026 is now available! Download the update now, or, if you already have SketchUp open, simply go to Help > Check for Update.

We’re very proud of this release because we think it has something for everyone: improving SketchUp and LayOut performance, stability, utility, interoperability, visual style, and efficiency. All of the important details are in the 2026.0 Release Notes and on the SketchUp.com What’s New page.

On the SketchUp blog, we encourage you to learn about an important new capability: you can now share private model links, gather feedback with comments, and even work on a model while others view it in real time.

For many people, this is a natural extension of how you are already using SketchUp, and we are so excited to see how you share! (Something tells us that gallery threads on the forums are about to get a lot more interesting.)

Sharing SketchUp models is a new paradigm that may take some time to process. That’s okay. We think collaboration tools are a natural fit in SketchUp, and we are looking forward to building on this foundation to make design software that’s more useful no matter how you share.

We’ll be listening for any issues you experience with this update. Thanks for your attention, and happy sketching!

SketchUp 2026 doesn’t work on my Macbook Pro 2017 (Intel).

I get a startUp page but no buttons are functional.

If I right click an existing skp file (a small one) and choose SU 2026, the program start, I see the model but I get a spinning beachball that seems to last forever. I killed the process after waiting 10 minutes.

Helping others on the forum could also benefit from this new feature! :+1:t2:

I just watched a few videos about the new features in SUP2026. The Trim, Extend, Chamfer, and Fillet functionality was (as far as I know) frequently requested for SU, but somehow it’s only implemented in LO?

I hope I’m wrong, and I’ll be pleasantly surprised when I see it in SUP2026 after installation. :crossed_fingers:

Other than that, it looks promising as usual.

Update:
Unfortunately, these ‘modelling features’ are not included in the ‘modelling program’.

I love that you guys pushed out 2 Versions this year! 2025 and 2026 in one year! We seem back on track. And it feels rather smooth on my side!

And I love that you gave Import / Export some love - it is so important that we can work together with other software.

Three thumbs up! (Don’t ask, where I got the third thumb. It’s a story not to be shared)

I am very excited and have already downloaded SketchUp 2026. I had so much trouble with SketchUp 2025, mostly Layout 2025, that I really don’t have other option. I hope that in the new version the bugs - which made the last half a year a nightmare - are not present.

BUG REPORT (hopefully this will only be a short list):

  • Extension Manager > Uninstall App > Crashed SketchUp every time there is an extension to be removed.

I’m not sure if your AMD gpu is supported for sketchup 2026, your Intel integrated gpu seems to have lost support.

Jean, I’m sorry you’re running into this issue. I’ll message you directly for more details, but that’s not a great experience out of the box. What trouble shooting steps have you tried so far?

I restarted my Mac then I restated SU, no change, same problem.

This is what I see:

I force quit SU then Right click on a file and select Start with SU 2026. I get this:

It means that SU quit last time and offer me to discard extensions at load time, which I choose to see if that could be the problem. This seems to help since I see this:

However, I also see the beachball spinning endlessly.

Doing my best!

Stop, collaborate and listen!

Congrats on what looks to be a solid release with lots of useful improvements. Migrating extensions worked seamlessly, and our extensions appear to work without any issues. Looking forward to digging in. Thanks!

I have a spare Ryzen 9 laptop that I might it on.

OBJ exports in 2026 appear to be bugged - the Scale Units defaults to inches, regardless of which unit I choose. After exporting, viewing the OBJ export Options box has reverted back to inches. Importing the OBJ into a different program looks like it used inches, even though I chose a different unit.

Sketchup 2026 is very buggy on Mac M3. Can’t customize the toolbar. All of the extension tool bar appear when open a file or starting a new one. It crashes a lot.

it’s not 2026, there are a couple plugins that cause this behaviour. it’s been like this for a few month, a fix has been found but too late for this release.

it’s selection toys and 1001bits tools I think.

edit : yeah, found it.

just turn off these plugins and restart, you’ll be able to change your toolbar. something in macos15 broke some behaviour.

Thanks for the input. I am finding just about all my extensions that have their own tool bars appear on the my screen when I open a sketchup file. The installation of 2026 SKU is the first time I let SKU move my extensions from SKU 2025. Previously, I did that manually in Mac’s finder. I don’t know if that caused the problem. I deleted SKU 2026 and will reinstall it once some of the bug correction updates are available. I’ll see what happens when I reinstall 2026.
