Please if this thread continues dont use it to rant. My wish is to list Issues with Sketchup and Layout 2026. So far the changes are interesting and some welcome. What Ive found so far are mostly in layout.
Opening a 2025 file or older My schedules (tables) have a formatting problem with Shape Style/Fill
I have tried to edit the table and Fill doesnt work. I opened a blank Layout file created a blank table and still formatting cells with fill is a problem. Using the excel file formatting doesnt work well either. I rely on formatting the table in Layout.
Creating custom menus has changed. It took a minute to figure out to populate a new floating menu you can copy from another menu Icon by doing a CTL+Shift then drag and drop. However missing seems to be access to all Layout commands. I find the superscript useful and have the icon in previous menus but cant see where to add it in 2026.
This looks like this is a known issue: Updating Table References may result in the wrong row or column data being updated. This can be fixed by setting the cell range through the ‘Table Reference Options…’ context menu dialog.
I will look into that. The cell data updates ok. I dont use the Spreadsheet formatting.(an area that could use a looking into). Does that affect the fill of the cell? Im just pointing out what I have found and will expect the next update will hopefully fix things. The reply is appreciated.
I believe this is a new bug specific to the list view in components, not found during the beta testing period. Ill make a note of it and add it to our backlog. Thanks Dan, I think you win the first official bug game for the 2026 release. Your prize consists of a thumbs up and an thank you from me
The indentation and expand feature do not work as we would expect. I.e, with Expand checked the nested objects are not indented beneath their parents, or at least not all of them.
Ill have to look at this in more detail tonight. Of course I got Jury duty on Launch day and im only on my Mac at the moment. I kicked this to the QA team to have a look in the meantime.
I was able to get a pass on Jury Duty this year as it was less than a year since I had it last year.
That time, we spent 12 hours (9AM-9PM) sitting around and being questioned before they picked a jury. The case was supposed to start the following day, but did not. It kept getting postponed again and again, until it was again on the docket when I got the latest summons. The DA finally dropped the charges because one of the witnesses would not produce a cellphone that had been subpoenaed by the defense. (What a waste of more than 3 years of court time.)
It looks like we’ve introduced a bug in 2026 regarding the fill color of tables. After some testing, I’ve found the issue is only a problem with empty cells. Any cell with a value should accept fill color. I’ve logged a bug internally so we can investigate a fix.
@ajeffers It is also stripping already created tables. In my post above shows where random cells are stripped and editing into them wont let you fix it.
On my PC, Win11, the v2026 installer fails saying its completion was blocked. I’ve reported this during beta testing, but not fix or ideas. If I find the msi it has made in the …/AppData/Local/Downloaded Installations subfolder it runs OK and installs, so the Trimble installer gets that far but falls at the last hurdle. Permissions for the relevant folder/files are OK.
Whenever I launch v2026 I get the Welcome Window. I can’t switch it off in Preferences as the checkbox is ticked and greyed out. If I edit the ../AppData/Local/…/PrivatePreferences.json file

Save and restart SketchUp the Welcome Window still opens, and the Preferences option is stilled ticked and greyed out. The .json file is unaffected during this - so there has been nothing read/written by SketchUp ?
Otherwise so far everything seems to be as expected, or already highlighted…
But in LO i cant change font size to under 8, if i try to write 6 it dont work and just jumps to 8 or 10 again.
If i rightclick on a page and choose export it sould create a pdf to me, it does not happen. But if i choose print and windows pdf-printer A4 it works. If i choose A3 it tells me some error that it could not print.
If i choose export and try to choose only page 3 it jumps back to show me “1-2”. I cant choose just page 3.
So full of ■■■■ i started 2025 again and the same file worked like a charm. Is there no one testing this before realease?
