Hi Ted.

Bad link for the Release Notes.

I’ve been waiting for this patch as it had a few fixes that directly affect my workflow. I stayed on 2025 to keep working.
Unfortunately after installing the updated I cant expand the layout window to full screen without a bug splat and I cant open any of my current project layout files. Just says ‘Error reading Layout File’. I have tried 6 current projects. anyone else got this issue?

Yeah, corrected. The link location must have changed between the last time and this time. Ive corrected it!

Ill pass this along to @trent for a closer look.

I still get this: Page not found | SketchUp Help from Help > Check for Update > What’s new? Check out the Release Notes…

https://help.sketchup.com/en/release-notes/sketchup-desktop-20261

Was broken (didn’t launch) earlier today.

Hi steven3, sorry to hear you are having issues.

Did you have a previous version of SU 2026 installed prior to the update?

Did you delete any files or copy any preference files forward to your new instance of LayOut?

Trent

I updated the link to reflect the change: https://help.sketchup.com/en/sketchup-desktop-20261

Hi Trent,
I’ve have had 2026 SU installed and have been using it for modeling with no issues.
I couldn’t use 2026 Layout as it would change text sizes less than 8 to 10 and tables where giving issues, they workarounds took more effort work than staying with 2025 so kept using that until the patch came out.

Didn’t delete any files, preferences would have been updated when I initially went to 2026 but had no issues with them until installing the patch today.

Even with the patch I have no issues with Sketchup itself only Layout

Thanks. Just FYI, after restarting (SU 26.0.429) a few times the link I’m presented after clicking “Check for Update” is still the broken one. No action required. Just reporting that it’s not showing on my machine.

I can’t find the thread that someone created when sketchup 2026 was released, saying that there´s a translation mistake on layout. It hasn´t been fixed with this update. When you close a file without having it saved it says Guardar/No Ahorre/Cancelar, Guardar and cancelar are well but No Ahorre means don´t save but in the sense of don´t save money, don´t save energy… the correct translation is like the one in Sketchup, No Guardar.

That’s the thread i was looking for, it was created on november 1, @TedVitale_SU I don´t know if you’re the right person to talk about this, I know it´s not a big deal but every time I see it my brain itches and I can´t scratch it.

After updating to SketchUp 2026.1, I noticed that axis locking using the arrow keys during the Rotate tool no longer works. Previously, it was possible to lock the rotation to the red, green, or blue axis using the directional keys, but now SketchUp simply ignores the command. This affects modeling precision and changes a long-standing behavior of the tool.

Sketchup 2025:

Hi,

With AI rendering or the AI assistant, it’s possible to purchase additional credits, but when you click the link to get more credits, you’re taken to a payment page that doesn’t even tell you how many credits you’re buying. It’s important to know how many credits you’ll get for the displayed price.

How many credits do you get for €10.99?

Thanks

1500

I read in the help pages about the AI monthly subscription and it mentioned 1500 credits, didn’t mention the price.

https://help.sketchup.com/en/sketchup-ai-subscription

so that’s 13€ for 1500 credits, making it 4 cent for an AI render and around 25 cent for a 3d model ? is my math right ?

When you download the new release, it suggets you check the Release Notes, as here:

But that too is a bad link it seems. Well, either that or there are no release notes…

Hi @simoncbevans there is an issue with a couple of web redirects we’re working on correcting at the moment. Please check back later for an update. Sorry for the inconvenience. In the meantime here are the release notes you’re looking for!

That link works! Interesting new facility for placing guide points. Also the fix for editing the toolbar when, say Selection Toys are enabled.

One thing I wish you could do with construction lines is to make them permanent when you want to. So you would, say, right click on one and it would have a toggle Permanent/Temporary. Then when you do a delete construction lines, only the temporary ones disappear. Or you could have a situation where you put all construction lines in a dedicated Group (that only contains construction lines), and make that immune to deletion (unless you delete the Group). At present, you can group them but they are unprotected.

Great suggestion. I didn’t realize, even if guides were locked, they get deleted. Ill pass this feedback along to the team!

So in the release notes it says with my Pro subscription I get 150 AI credits / month. Three questions…

Do these roll over into the next month if not used?

What is the burn rate for the various activities?

The AI assistant is a great replacement for the SU/LO web page help and is really quick in comparison, shouldn’t this be a free service?
