SketchUp 2025 purging problem (the solution turned out to be the use of Enscape beta)

Hey all.
I’ve updated the latest version yesterday. But since then, I’m having problem purging unused items from default system. But when I use TIG purge all extension it works fine.

It happens in every model. Just hit the purge button and SketchUp exits. No crash report, no hanging, nothing.

Any idea why this is happening? The 2024 version was fine. At first, I thought the models were created in 2024 version, that’s why. Then I created a basic model in 2025, but still the same.

Are you speaking of the “Purge Unused” button at the bottom of the Statistics panel of the Model Info dialog?

yes. That button.

It does not crash for me. I’m on Windows 11 w/ a Nvidia GTX 1060 GPU.

my graphics driver is updated. It’s happening in my desktop, laptop, everywhere.

When you installed did you ‘run as administrator’?

Of course. The extension from TIG is working fine. After purging with the extension, the default purging works fine.

I wonder then what the hang up is…
Can you try using the TIG extension and only purge materials and layers, then try native SKP to purge the components?

If that works maybe then try the reverse. Something somewhere must be corrupt.

OKay. Let me try it.

I don’t know of any crashing that should be caused by purging. Is it with any model, or only particular ones?

There is something odd with TIG’s extension, in that it doesn’t give an option to not purge components. They do get purged, but the dialog doesn’t suggest that they will.

Found it. My sketchucation extension was causing the problem. Reinstalled without any extensions and works fine. Thanks for all the help :heart::heart:

What does this mean?

Sketchucation and Enscape beta version caused the problems. If I uninstall enscape and sketchucation extension, it doesn’t crash.

Do you mean the SketchUcation Plugin Store ?

yes. somehow that caused the problem too. I had some paid extensions there.

@colin
I disagree. I just tried using it in v2025 and it worked exactly as expected.
When you chose ‘No’ to purging components it works as expected,
and leaves unused Components in the definitions,
and also purges the other kinds of things properly.

I also can’t see how the SketchUcation toolset and/or Enscape might affect the native purging.
I don’t have that renderer installed but I do use the the SketchUcation toolset and the native Model Info >Statistics > Purge Unused works fine…

There is the main problem. There is no Purge Components option for me:

Is that first one supposed to be Purge Components?

On Windows:

Can you drag the window to be wider?

Ah, the old inputbox prompt length on Mac issue…

The first option should read ‘Purge Components:’, as Dave explained.
Seems the MAC can’t cope with a string of 17 characters.
No MAC user ever reported it before.
I’ve tweaked code to make the prompts shorter…

Once it’s been signed I’ll publish v7.0 over at SketchUcation…
