SketchUp 2024 was official released!

I’m in the same boat as you. I installed 24 this morning but had to log out of 23.
I went back to 23 and had to log back in.

I’ve decided to stay using 23 for a few weeks until my current project is complete. No big deal.

It doesn’t work with new Sonoma, when you model something, there are ,pauses" when you cannot use push/pull, colours or any shape with ,magnetic" points. Also there are too many crashes and it’s really annoying when you need to work. Models have some shades and if you turn around the space, it’s flickering. So looking for new update and hoping that it will work someday.

could you open a new topic about that ? and give as many details as you can, screen recordings, infos about your machine, numbers of bugsplats reports and if it’s macos crashing, maybe those reports as well ?
but not here, make a thread about it in SketchUp , otherwise it’ll be lost between the posts of people talking release.

because the devs are not omniscient, if they don’t know there is a problem, they can’t fix the problem.

I appears I have exceeded my allowed activation for my singular PC use/ownership thing. Does this mean I have to just sign out of SU23 then load up SU24 and activate? Will it cause any other issues?
I’m in the middle of a project and can’t afford to have any login errors crashing SU and stopping me from getting on with it.

yep. you can activate 2 sketchup at a time. either on 2 machines, or 2 versions.

but at any moment you can log-off one sketchup and log-in another. and if needed, in your account on sketchup.com you can de-authorise (log-off) all your machines.

just like it does every 28 days.

I figure a new engine to replace openGL (obsolete since 17) + switch to a more recent ruby was more urgent.

Don’t forget Point Clouds! Mac users can’t use Scan Essentials…

FYI - double posting as there is another thread but for V-Ray users, looks like Chaos posted an update yesterday as well. I’m installing now and will report if any issues arise. Excited to render with v2024!!!

Sonoma 14.4.1 is the latest version, at least in intel. everything works fine here so far.

I’m just signing out of SU21 on my iMac laptop to see if I can get two versions signed in on my PC.

I had a google about what versions I can have signed in with etc but unfortunately these days there are so many hits of old questions from this forum on google that its hard to see the wood for the trees …questions dating back to 2014 and 15 which I doubt are relevant since the changes to licences etc. I wonder if the forum mods could de-list some older searchable threads so they aren’t taking top spot on google.

Anyway, I’m having a tricky time getting into SU24, even though I have deauthorized and restarted and signed out of SU23, SU24 gives me the ‘manage authorisations’ request result when opening and SU23 signs me in automatically when opening.

Seems there’s something more going on with me. I signed out of my mac SU21 account, deauthorised and signed out of SU23 on this pc, and I’m sent back round the circle of SU24 asking me to manage activations. boohoo sad face

EDIT: Happy face. fixed now… exploring SU24 and loading in plugins etc. loaded a current model and the speed and smoothness of the orbiting is notably faster. Congratulations SU and Trimble. so far so good!

If you have a 2021 classic license, it doesn’t count to the subscription seats, you can have 2021 installed and you’ll still have two seats available from your other license.

The way I got it to work was de-authorise, then restart, then open up SU23, sign out of the launcher, then load up the launcher of SU24, but it still had the manage activations - Only when I sign out back out of this SU24 launcher and restart the app did I get the sigh in option, then SU24 worked.

Hasn’t really solved my puzzle, but at least I get to play for a bit. We’ll see if I need to go through some funny rigmarole to get back into SU23… here’s hoping not

You can check on your profile on the sketchup website, it must say what licenses you have. 2021 was the last version sold with a perpetual license.

SU21 isn’t registered (for me at least) on the accounts management page.
I do have the email stored of the Classic Licence for SU21, so that’s my proof.

Curious: I don’t have the v-ray toolsets in 2024 and when I download the v-ray installer for windows it doesn’t show 2024…I’m assuming this is something that’s coming?

The Vray update was availble today for me. SU 2024 was included in the install options. I’m waiting on a render with it from SU2024 as I type.
