Shop version is becoming more dysfunctional by the hour

My version (SU Shop) doesn’t have the checkbox options like SU Pro. I was looking for that, but it wasn’t there.

Well then, as you say, it must be on my end. I will obtain the services of a technician to figure out why my version of SU Shop doesn’t have the checkbox for “shadows on ground”, doesn’t allow manipulation of shadows correctly and doesn’t allow editing of materials and colors. I see what you’re showing me and have been able to edit and control settings in the past. FYI, I’ve worked with models for settings in Hawaii, California and New York. I do understand basic geography and astronomy. I only wish the program worked for me the way (as it did in all previous free versions).
Thank you.

It does work just fine.

How did you go about geo-locating your model in Shop? I just started a new file in Shop using the same basic location information as your model has. There’s no problem with shadows in my file.

As a hobbyist you’ve covered a wide area.

Do you have the button circled in this image–which opens the lower pane with the checkboxes?

It certainly does, you need to expand the palette. Perhaps different in Shop but the settings do exist.

Guys, this is the Shadows panel in SketchUp Shop. It does not have all the settings that are available in SketchUp Pro.

That said, the only way to create geo-location in SketchUp Shop is by adding the location. The UTC offset is taken care of automatically.

Oh, So you can’t control shadows on/off the ground?

No. Not in Shop.

I think for serious architectural use SketchUp Pro is still the choice.

No, not in this program. I was expecting them because they’ve always been available in earlier (free) versions. Now, I only see them in SU Pro. Hence my limitations and frustrations.

I’m still using SketchUp 2018 with no problems. I have no complaints about this version.

And what prevents you from downloading and using it? (Not for business purposes!)

I wasn’t aware that free (bug-free, un-watered-down) versions were still available

I thought so. That’s why I said it…

Thank you kindly for the info.
