Setting SketchUp 2020 as the default application in Windows

Mine is more interesting.

I recall reading on one of these threads that the long term solution is a repaired installation file, which we’ll then download, right click, choose “Run as Administrator”, the “Repair”.

Am I remembering corrrectly?

And if I am, any estimate on when the repaired installation file might be available?

Hey, I’m still having this issue. I have SketchUp 2020 and 2019, but Windows 10 only shows two versions of Sketchup 2019. If I want to open a file w SketchUp 2020 I have to find it in the program files. Even if I uninstall SketchUp 2019, I still can’t get SketchUp 2020 to show up as the default.

For what it’s worth, this started happening after I downloaded SU 2019 again since the Datasmith Plugin and Twinmotion direct link weren’t useable w SketchUp 2020 for a few months.

The two entries showing is a known problem. The duplicate seems to be a repeat of the last version you installed. Some people see it as two 2018 entries. One of the two is really 2020.

Hello, has this been resolved? Is the updated installer available?

It hasn’t been fixed in the most recent installer. It’s still in the list of things to be fixed for the next installer.

I went through a lot of registry changes to do a fix, and it can fix setting 2020 as the default to open the file. But, you may end up with duplicate 2020 entries, and you still won’t know which one is 2020.

the guy who’s scripting the Windows setup routine should know more concerning this issue and which registry entries need to be tampered.
