Do I have to uninstall my pro 2019 before I update my 2020.2? I’ve downloaded and installed, but when I attempt to open a file, it tells me I need to update to the newer version. What am I doing wrong?
There is a problem that has been around for a while, where instead of seeing one entry for 2019 and one for 2020, in the Open With menu, you see two entries for 2019. More exactly, you see two or more entries for the most recent non-2020 that you have installed.
You could open 2020 and then open the file from within SketchUp, and that would make sure you are using the latest version. Or you can go into the Default Apps control panel, and in the section that lets you set the application by file extension, find .skp and set its default application to one of the duplicate entries. If you double-click on a SketchUp file and it opens 2019, go back to that list and try a different entry. One of them is really 2020 and not 2019.
