Purge continues to crash SketchUp

Thanks all…I downloaded the additional antivirus program after reading that COM surrogate is also the name of a virus that mmics COM surrogate…much conflicting information online.

Just as an FYI for you, this is the suggestions I got from Enscape overnight after looking at the logs:

In that case, please try the following:

I followed through on those suggestions, and after some testing both SketchUp and Enscape seemed to be running much more smoothly. However, I’m still having crashes when I use the “purge” model options…both with the new pop-up and when I used 2024 and when to statistics / purge.

Here is the last model that I was testing with. I would add a couple of large components, delete them, then purge. It crashed 3 times both with Enscape running and not running, though as I’ve tested several models, it seems to happen slightly more when Enscape is also running. A couple of times it just got hung up and spun for a good chunk of time before crashing.

I did just reopen the same model, added the same components, deleted them , and then to statistics / purge unused instead of the pop-up and it didn’t crash.

Here is the link to two of the models that I was testing with , but had the same results with other files also.

You have some inverted faces, only white faces should be shown on monochrome style

Profile edges are activated, that increases the load on your gpu and you have some huge materials, a flat black color in 8K is unnecessary.

I could purge your file natively without any issues, I also purged it with clean up3 to have statistics and delete some loose edges spread all over the place.

You should also uncheck the length and angle snapping, that could lead to accuracy mistakes.

I tried both files, and didn’t get a crash in either way of purging.

Looking back at the two bugsplats you sent in on May 5th, both seemed to be related to undo actions. For the times when you do get a crash, had you done any undo steps around that time?

I was testing on Mac, I will try Windows later.

I tested on Windows, with various versions of SketchUp. 2023 and later had no problems, but 2022, where I had Enscape installed, crashed, with no bugsplat.

I updated to this version of Enscape:

and now 2022, and 2025, no longer crash, even if I use the new 2025 purge feature.
