Hello,
Today, I ran into a problem with SketchUp agaaaaain.
Apparently the same issue with matchphoto has been reported on layout, with a vague answer that is was not going to be fixed anytime soon.
Well it also occurs with the new graphic engine in sketchup pro.
here’s what a photomatch export looks with the old engine, or sketchup 2022 :
here’s what it looks like with the new one :
the image is duplicated / moved and that was with the “use view size” parameter checked !
it gets even worse if we upscale the output :
Now I don’t have time to switch from new to old engine back and forth and restart sketchup every time I do all day long.
For any software, these kinds of issues (just like the one with the non scrolling trays) , inferences absurdities, should be addressed with a hotfix.
Recently, a user reported an issue with V-Ray where objects had to be exploded/re-grouped for the textures to display properly. I ran into the same problem several times today, in vray and twinmotion (edit : and apparently enscape too) because the exact same thing happens in it, and I’m asking myself if the issue actually comes from SketchUp as the probability that two renderers from different studios are facing the same one is very tiny.
I’m really starting to wonder if I should go back to the 2022 version. And since all the ‘satellite’ services that SketchUp offers – 3D Warehouse, Add Location etc. – will stop working with it, I think I might just cancel my subscription altogether and return to my classic 2021 license while I’m at it.
Year after year, the working environment keeps deteriorating, and the time wasted is becoming more and more significant
It’s great to develop new features and try to look towards the future, but building on something shaky will never bring any good. I think it would be better to clearly identify the priorities, specifically fixing the basic functions that probably 90% of users don’t go beyond.
I hope these points will be taken into consideration. I believe with a little extra effort, the user experience can greatly be improved and I hope SketchUp will get back to the level of reliability it deserves SOON
