Help! VRay glass is rendering black and/or with a diagonal obstruction running through it

This has been happening to me since I updated to SketchUp 2024 and I can’t figure out why (I’ve never had this issue before). Some of the glass materials render black and others render with a grey-ish diagonal obstruction running through them - none so far have been immune though.

In my example render there’s both problems happening at once. Does anyone know or have a solution to this? It’s driving me insane…

Details:

  • I’m ONLY using native VRay materials
  • I haven’t made any of my own changes to the material settings
  • Glass objects have depth - in this case 3/8" depth (they aren’t just single faces)
  • Faces are all correctly oriented
  • There are light sources outside the doors (glass panes)

Thanks in advance!!!

Here are my settings:

Have you checked your model in Monochrome Face Style to ensure no reversed faces? Update - you mentioned they’re correctly oriented. - Upload the model (or post to dropbox, etc and share link) for a closer inspection.

hello,

other people have addressed this issue with CUDA rendering mode
simply make your glass door a separate group and it’ll fix it - at least temporarily from the tests I ran. (you have to do it everytime you launch another render)
Anyway I guess there’s a bug Chaos group is aware of and you’ll have to wait for an update

In the meantime you can switch to CPU or RTX rendering mode, since you have an RTX graphic card, both will work
