Making a stream, need help

Dear All,

I am trying to make a stream like structure from one pond to another. I know it is possible, but I could use some help.

Could you please suggest a way forward, including extensions that may help.

I do not want anyone to do my homework. I would just like some pointers.

The skp file is attached.

Regards,

Tom

  • Method A

    • Freehand
    • Sandbox > From Contours
  • Method B

    • Arc
    • Line
    • Move
  • Method C

    • Circle
    • Line
    • Erase
    • Move
  • Method D

    • Move
    • Copy
    • Sandbox > From Contours
  • Method E

    • Arc
    • Vertex Tools
  • Method F

    • Arc
    • PushLine
    • Move
  • Method G

    • Curviloft
    • Move

and so on…

With more useful topology - quads, which then allows a clean and smooth subdivision, as well as a good texturing.

You can use Sandbox Tools, From Contours on what you have. Cut and paste in place the geometry of one into the other.

I don’t know if the result is a stream like structure or not ;^)

What would this actually be made of? Is it like a slide (a slide like structure ;^)?

If this were like a water feature, you’d start with excavation and then add a liner. Boulders, etc. are added after the fact. So maybe you make the basic structure onto, or into, which ‘rocks’ would go…

Instead of the free-hand line that has a gazillion line segments, start with a rectangles or a U shape with fewer edges. Copy that a number of times. You can stich the Us together and move, rotate, resize, faces and edges.

Rando thing:

  • Using Ctrl - to decrease number of segments. Only a few

  • Arc + Line + PushPull + Move (array)
