Logging in not working?

Trying to open a Sketchup 2025 file. I get the typical notice that I need to sign in and that I should “launch browser again,” which takes me to a Trimble page (Trimble Identity) with no blanks to fill out or anything else.

What’s going on here? Chrome Version 140.0.7339.208 (Official Build) (64-bit)

I had this issue a couple weeks ago on windows, the problem was my antivirus blocking the site.

I got it to work by turning off most of my browser extensions. I do not consider this to be a realistic requirement. Plenty of other software manages to control licensure without this kind of jumping through hoops and leaving the machine open to malware and ads.

Just had to go through this again, involving coming here to remind myself what the “solution” was. I am no happier. I pay enough to Trimble not to have to deal with mickeymouse like this!

I have just white listed the Trimble site…

I’m not sure what other Mickey Mousing needs to be done.

The issue is being caused by third‑party security software blocking access to Trimble’s website.

All of these products include a way to always allow access to a site you know is safe — this is typically called whitelisting. If this isn’t configured, the software will make its own decisions about what to block. Sometimes those decisions are incorrect or result in false positives.

Most security vendors also provide a way for you to report false positives so their systems can be corrected.

To put it another way: blaming Trimble for this would be like blaming your fridge manufacturer because you can’t get to the food — after you hired a security company to board up your house while you were still outside.

Having had this happen again just a few moments ago, I did a little half-splitting troubleshooting. It turns out that the offending extension is the Malwarebytes Browser Guard (I have v. 3.1.4). Leave it on, no help with the login screen. Turn it off, login screen works fine.

Just for anyone else who’s dealing with this. I have no idea why Malwarebytes and Trimble are not playing nice with each other.

funny enough, I narrowed it down to malware bytes for a bunch of others a week ago.

OK, thanks.
