Layout: Font shows up as boxes when editing

Quick Q: I’m using a font that shows up as boxes when editing in Layout. Once I’m done editing, it shows up fine.

I know it’s some sort of font compatibility issue, but couldn’t seem to find the way to fix it within layout. Any suggestions or do I need to go find a new font? My workaround has been to type in notepad, then copy/paste the text into layout. Certainly not ideal!

Thanks all!

Let me guess. You are using Flux Architect?

This tends to happen with fonts such as Flux Architect that are sort of only half built. Properly made fonts don’t show it.

Nail on the head. It’s only mildly annoying. Another weird wrinkle is that if I use Word to edit my text, then copy/paste into layout, it shows up fine for editing.

Guess I’ll keep on keepin’ on with the Word work-around. :man_shrugging:

Thanks for the input,

An alternative would be to find a better font. Flux Architect has very few glyphs. You could use something like the Graphite Std family which is not only properly built but includes many more characters and in a bench of different styles.

AMAZING! I actually like the Graphite Std better than the Flux anyway. I’m working through updating all my templates as we speak.

Huge thank you for the quick responses and great help! The community continues to blow me away whenever I have a question, thanks to people like you.

I’m happy that helps. I like Graphite Std better, too.

FWIW, your profile says you are using SketchUp 2016 Make. Maybe you could update that?
