Have you tried updating to the latest maintenance version of SketchUp/LayOut?

Yes, I just updated to 2020.1 and was not having any issues with the previous version.
However, upon updating to 2020.1, Layout crashes immediately when rendering a viewport, both when auto-render is checked on and when it is not, and sometimes crashes when saving too.
On Windows 2020.1 didn’t last very long, because of a crashing issue. There is a 2020.1.1 and a 2020.2, try either of those (the second link is 2020.2):
Yes, sorry for the typo, I had actually just downloaded 2020.2 and am still having a frequent crashing issue - it still happens every single time I try to render a viewport.
Try 2020.1.1 instead.
Layout 2020 keeps crashing every time I use the label tool and the dimensions tool…
Im using MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015).
2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
Layout 2020 keeps crashing when I use the label tool and the dimension tool. So when this happens I close the model and save it, then I immediatly reopen the model and the label/annotation is showing correctly but not in the intended position as it crashed during moving/placing the label. Dimension tend to be very difficult to use sometimes. I cant use these tools properly as the Layout slows so much I have to close and reopen to get it working again. fustrating.
I still have the classic license Sketch UP and Layout 20.0.362
I don’t want to have to pay the monthly subscription as I have enough bills and i don’t often use Sketch Up
