[Fixed] - Sketchup 2019 keeps Crashing

+1

your 2024 macbook air came with sonoma or sequoia.
last year, sonoma 14.3 brought some extra security and it broke sketchup, at least the way it uses the material panel.
the fix came with 14.4 (for SU23 users) and sketchup 24

right now you have 3 solutions.

  • sketchup 24+
  • rollback to Ventura.
  • know that changing the material collection will crash, and act accordingly.

Thanks Anssi and ateliernab.

This is the announcement about it from last year. the culprit was 14.4 not 14.3

Colin provides a file with all the default materials in it if you need some.

edit : now if it crashes when you don’t even look at the material tool, then that’s different. do you have bugsplat reports ?

Also, just to point out for anyone seeing this post: it was in fact the materials panel that was causing the crashing. It also doesn’t like it when I edit scene names - the program freezes and I need to force quit. Anyway, I s,pose I’m going to have to bite the bullet and upgrade…

Thanks again.

Hi. Thanks. No bugsplat reports for this issue, although they happen very occasionally, as they always have. As mentioned, it freezes when I edit scene names, which also happens in Layout.

that’s a new one. but considering the “security” path apple has taken in recent years, I’m afraid we’ll see more of these obscure “small bugs” in older versions as time passes.

Je vous remercie bien.

That’s no garantee for the future…
