yeah, Justin is right in pointing this out. We are both following this. They have to make it user friendly so we’ll see.
The whole Photoshop part of the process is one thing. I’m thinking more of the SketchUp process of getting the SketchUp POV to mach the photo POV.
Photomatching…putting on my radar for future tutorial. We use Lumions image overlay to do it (not the photomatch option they released with version 9 or 10). Its really just manual photoshop working.
Thanks for the kind words as well!!
Did do research on TM. I also think this UE is the way to go now and in the future. Especially in our practice. Do you have a schedule in where you will demo/show your current and future work?
Jaime
That’s were we use Lumion’s image overlay. Lumions camera control and overlay allows us to line up the photos with the model better.
However, not to leave you hanging. Here is another option - use this
It allows you to screen back multiple applications. So you can have your photo up, then SketchUp. Screen back the photo with Peek Through and then move around the SketchUp model.
Important tips
Make sure yon quickly snap show scenes - I have a shortcut.
Remember that the Zoom button the Large Tool Set allows you to reset the camera field of view. Important to do that.
Make sure your shadows are going the right way in SketchUp as the image. If you need to adjust the light direction make sure to use the Extension Solar North so you can rotate the sun in the sky.
I hope this helps.
Thanks
Daniel
I’ve got a bunch of Twinmotion tutorials on this channel if that’s what you mean - https://www.youtube.com/therenderingessentials
Being on a Mac, even Lumion isn’t an alternative. I still have to do more with watermark as a technique in SU.
It sounded like some of the photomatching revolved around point clouds and whatever tools they offer for this task.
BTW, an example of SU’s built in Match Photo tools with a lot of landscape that I was going to use as a case study for my presentation is over in this thread.
Just subscribed too! Thank you for that! And huge thank you to @Daniel_Tal for today’s presentation!!!
I’m new to the basecamp experience - looks like the example you linked to was from December 2019 and was in preparation for a presentation. Did this become a tutorial and if so where can I view it? Many thanks - looks super helpful!
I was originally scheduled to be a presenter for this year’s 3D Basecamp, but it was cancelled. I wasn’t asked to do a virtual one like Daniel’s here. I’ve started to make a YouTube channel, but haven’t released anything publicly yet. Mybe I can get more time for that soon.
Fantastic! If possible when it goes live please do let me know! Many thanks for the reply! james
Daniel’s photo composites blow me away, especially being nebulous land forms that you can’t apply Match Photo’s vanishing point tools on.
Back from a camping holiday without internet, I’m glad I could watch the recording anyway now! Thanks for that!
Daniel, Thanks for sharing the Peek Through link! Excellent tool!!!
Was really looking forward to your presentation as well. Hopefully you will be presenting at Basecamp 2022 and I also hope to see Daniel Tal present in person with this next Basecamp. The virtual sessions are really cool but I will admit the in person is always better.
It was great to meet Daniel in person in 2018. I want to see people in person too, but the virtual stuff helps a little.
