Eneroth Extensions FAQ

Ever since I installed Sketchup 2025 I cannot use my “Component Replacer” extension. It says, I don’t have a valid license. I do. But how to explain that to the warehouse? This extension is super-important to my workflow…

Maybe @colin can help you

How did you get Component Replacer into SketchUp 2025?

It’s a free extension, and doesn’t have a license. You could try uninstalling it and install a fresh one from extension warehouse.

No - it is (or was?) paid. I bought it a couple of years ago. What’s interesting in the warehouse is that it a) shows the price b) doesn’t offer me the option to buy it again but instead gives me the option to install, even though I have already installed it. Tried installing and uninstalling it a couple of times but no luck.

It’s hasn’t been updated to be compatible with Sketchup 2025 though, maybe that is the problem.

I see that Thom and Christina both have something called Component Replacer! His one is free.

I don’t see you as having bought the Eneroth Component Replacer. You do have eight other Eneroth extensions, two of which were paid. Did you get this on under a different email address?

Ah - this might be it. This was way before the email-credential time. The receipt is billed to my private address. We switched all of our Sketchup-activities to our company addresses when subscription arrived

Is there something you can do about it? What is weird is that I cannot buy it either with my login so it seems to be somewhat in Limbo. And I was able to use it since 2018 with no problems.

I may be able to do something. I will ask for more information in a direction message.

The extension with the problem was under a different email address, and I fixed the issue in that account.

(I like Christinas better…)

@colin fixed it! The extension was purchased under a different account. Thanx!!

Is there likely to be a 2025 update for your Legacy Save extension?
Sketchup seems to no longer feature a built in way to back-save for 2021 which a lot of people I work with are still on

AFAIK the current file format was introduced for version 2021. When you open a v.2025 file with an older application version, you get a version warning about new program features but it should still work.

guy i work with on mac says he can’t open my stuff in 2021
on windows it just gets that alert message

also it has seemed that some files don’t do it
eneroth ‘open newer version’ extension seems to help
but does not work right on mac

I believe that this extension was written to work with the legacy binary format.

have him make a screen snip of the warning dialog please, and post it here.

Open Newer Version extension only rated for Windows, if he says it doesn’t work on his system, then it doesn’t work on his system. At any rate I have a solution now even if I don’t love it.

indeed, it carries on here

It’s a SketchUp buisiness decision to drop the downsave functionality. As an extension developer who also happens to be working at SketchUp, I don’t intend to make or update an extension to get around a decision by my employer.

Visual Merge is showing as no longer licensed. I am happy to purchase it again but cannot find an option to pay!

There was a problem on our side. You can try Visual Merge again, and also 2DXY SlickMoves would have had a similar problem. I fixed both.

Thank you! Now they both work. I haven’t been able to get 2DXY SlickMoves to work for at least a year, and both Visual Merge and Slickmoves are very useful little plug-ins.
