Applying textures

Hi

I’ve hit the B key to open my materials palette, but some textures are not showing properly. My own collection shows, window coverings show, but bricks for example show the basic underlying colour for each material, but not the image file. The Textures “in Model” show up properly too.

Any ideas how to fix this - I’m on a fairly new iMac running the latest OS, and using SU Pro 24.0.554
thanks in advance
Paul

Are you using the classic or experimental graphics engine?

You may want to update to 26 and see if it persists. I remember there being issues with M3 chips and graphics in 23 and maybe 24.

You can keep 24 installed - 26 will install in its own location / folder. And you can use the plugin migration tool to speed up the installation process.

I updated to 26, but that hasn’t fixed it!

Does the material look right when painted in the model, and just wrong in the paint pallet?

What if you try to edit the material - what is the size that shows?

it looks wrong in the pallet and if i apply it, i just get the base colour, no image texture.

I’ve just selected a material from the roofing pallet. it shows as plain dark grey with no roof slate image. I tried to edit it but it won’t edit. I applied it to a surface on my model, it came out plain grey.

I looked in the “colours in Model’ palette but it doesnt seem to have appeared.

Where are you seeing those materials from?
I’m on 26, macOS:

Can you share the model after you paint some of the surfaces with materials causing you issues?

What graphics engine are you using?

sorry - don’t understand your question.
I’m on iMac, Mac os26.3 Tahoe.
Sketchup v 26.1.188

was using new engine, now switched to classic, but seems not to have made a difference

Paul, can you share the .skp file so we can see what happens on another machine?

sure. hold on

i stripped some of the big components first, but the palettes still don’t work

(this has happened to me before on other models, so I’m not sure that the model is the cause. but you guys will know better than me!)

I do not have that category in SKP 2026 on my Mac.

This is what I see in SketchUp 2026 on Windows.

This makes me think it’s a hardware issue. I wonder if @colin has any insight.

I think I have seen the problem before, but so far can’t remember what caused it.

category?

just to clarify - In my model does work for me. It’s the standard palettes that come with SU that are only showing background colours. So my Mac seems to be having trouble finding the image texture files….

Ah … I thought it was all textures. So once they are “In Model” they show up fine in the Colours panel?

@colin, could this be an installation thing?
