Zoom Extent greyed out, model is extremely zoomed out

Working on a kitchen model and suddenly my model is gone. I know that zoom extent is the way to get back to the model when it is super zoomed out. The icon is “greyed out” - I tried YouTube, similar cases that were posted here, but I am having no luck. I uploaded the file in case someone has some free time to help out. I appreciate the help in advance. Thank you.

Update: my file is too big apparently.

I fixed the camera position in your model. Looks like it was balled up because you were working with the Camera set to Parallel Projection. Do your modeling with the Camera set to Perspective.

I also fixed incorrect tag usage …

And I purged unused stuff from the file. No need to hoard those components and materials. This reduced the file size by 75%.

Here’s the file.

By the way, is there a reason you are working with the backup of the backup of the original file? The ~ at the end of the file name indicates it’s the backup. Two of them indicates you’ve been working on the backup of the backup.

@DaveR thank you so much - all great recommendations.
I am student so I am just learning and winging it as I go. I always wondered about the back up, I get like 6 back-ups every time I am working on a model and don’t know how to fix that. Care to share some quick fixes? Thanks again.

Pay attention to the file name. Make sure when you are getting ready to open a file there are no tildes ~ in the file name. Since that’s the naming convention on Mac it requires extra diligence on your part when you are opening existing model files. This gets to be doubly important when you start working in LayOut because you can wind up editing a file that is not linked to the LayOut file.

You might consider deleting all but the newest version of your SketchUp file and then renaming the remaining file to remove the tildes.

And you’re welcome.
