Now you’re putting strict download limits in the 3D Warehouse now???
Seriously Trimble? Are you guys trying to make the 3D Warehouse feel worse than it is now?
I bet there’s upload limits too.

There is no download limit for 3D Warehouse for any subscription plan. You can see the comparison at the middle of this page.
The “End of Support Policy” is also not new; it has been in effect for a long time.
How the hell was I supposed to know that freeloaders like me get treated like this?
Get rid of it!
Well, I don’t think it’s personally. Trimble is a public company; money is what matters to investors. Resources - like running 3DWH - cost money. The outflow of money needs to be regulated; I think that’s how they came to the decision that 5 models a day are enough for freeloaders..
I’m almost certain that after you let off steam here, you’ll have to live with it from now on.
all my models are going private now .. .. have enough of feeling second rate perpetual license holder !
okay.
I’m curious, what’s the benefice of leaving them on the warehouse then ? just as a storage / library ?
I see the point in sharing publicly, but if it is to make private, I don’t see the advantage vs trimble connect or even my hard drive.
pretty much. and the whole raison d’être of a company is to sell its product. can’t really blame trimble for looking for ways to make people subscribe
at least it’s ads about their products…
Private models can (if i’m right) still be shared with the persons you choose, in stead of shared with everybody?
So my friends and collegeus may still download them models, but all others can not, which will keep their download limit (hopefully) lower
Yes, soon we will have to pay to use the eraser or line tool, that would be great!
As long as the strakeholders are happy, who cares about the users, right?
ah yes, maybe yes. they are not in the result list but can be shared with a direct link.
makes sense.
They must be trying to keep it balanced.
I also donate to charities or support young people, but there is always a line that I can’t or don’t want to cross.
Users (including me) are always happy about free content and are upset when it runs out.
I wasn’t trolling! This was my first time knowing about this. I hadn’t DL’d multiple models in a while.
there is no benefit.. I only upload them for community support.. I just don’t have time to archive download the 97 files back onto my PC in an organised many yet.. I will do that tomorrow…
right now I am dealing with another painful multinational ( Microsoft) and transferring my domain name and email server out of their hands
This daily limit for “freeloaders” isn’t new. It has existed for years.
As a freeloader, you really aren’t in a position to demand that Trimble remove the limit.
I miss the ability to explore the warehouse and simply browse around for amazing stuff.
How long? I’m betting since the site’s major redesign.
You could find that out as easily as I did. There’s a post from July of 2020 explaining why there’s a limit for non-paying users. Presumably the limit was implemented at some point prior to that.
I see. How the heck did I miss this?
Looks like you missed the bus
This is an experiment we are currently running.
The informational videos will appear to some non-subscribers after a set number of downloads. Watching enough of the video allows you to continue to download models from 3DW. The video may appear again after more downloads but there is no meaningful upper limit to downloads as long as you watch enough videos.
Our objective here is to enhance awareness of paid features in SketchUp and see whether that nudges more of our free users to subscribe. 3DW has a very large free user base and we are looking for ways to cover the costs of this service while still being able to provide free access.
This campaign is not being shown to subscribers. We do actually have daily download limits for subscribers too but the number is very high and designed to prevent content scraping. Virtually nobody ever hits that limit.
There are no restrictions on uploads. We actively encourage everyone to share their models with the community on 3DW and that’s one reason why we see it as important to maintain free access to the application.
Are the download limits for non-paid subscribers still in effect as per Peter’s post from 2020?
