The limits described in that post have been large enough that they hardly affect anyone, even non-subscribers.
Please. First off, model it yourself. Second, there is no better visualization software for the money. Then layout comes with it. Then you can get Vray for a bundle package. And it’s less than a grand? What’s your job anyhow? Mine includes modeling what is actually going to be there. Not “man on 1969 Vespa”. The warehouse is for filler at best. To think that someone was kind enough to do your job for you and you’re upset about it?
I hope the term “free” isn’t used to describe perpetual license holders because they paid full price for that license at time of purchase.
lets create a warehouse for us for Sketchup and guys dont share anymore any projects on 3D warehouse
that’s the next logical step, I see you’re still using sketchup 21, so I’m guessing it’s either an old classic licence or a crak. in either case, you’ve made the choice not to get a subscription and to support further development. Sketchup keeps moving on, but you made a choice not to.
so a logical step is indeed to make your free warehouse on the side. just like the 3d warehouse but without ads every 5 download. Off course I expect this new free warehouse to be completely free of ads, not even a banner to cover the cost, or that would be hypocrisy. ![]()

what is it with weekends ?
I assume you will provide the hosting, domain admin ..etc., and allow anyone to download and upload any modell from it at any time as many times anyone want; free of charge!
And many years after..
If, “the whole raison d’être of a company is to sell its product” then why have we built this enormous community around SU? If we accept that simplistic proposition, Trimble SU could eventually become the Ryan Air/ EasyJet of the design software world. Is that what we want, is that what the company wants, is this what the planet needs?
… Or is there another way, a way that values more than the single bottom line of shareholder gains. One that helps build and strengthen this amazing community? ![]()
I totally agree. Like most designers I bought SketchUp as a support programme for a very expensive Cad Programme in my case Archicad. The cad programme could do and still does everything that I used SketchUp for, but somethings were easier, and it was fun to use and very simple. I decided to buy a perpetual license because I could see I would use it fairly regularly. I think I upgraded the pro license 2 or 3 times when I saw good development in areas that I used in my workflow, I spent aprox 1k on various plugins to enable better Layout documentation and put a lot of time in to templates which I have made available.
To me it is deeply offensive to call me a free loader. In my opinion the subscription model is the definition of free loading. It reduces my choice to evaluate what I am purchasing and it enables companies to control or should I say “encourage” outcomes by removing support and or functionality rather than improving their product. I still use 2021 pro and there is nothing that I cannot do with it unless they affect the functionality. I fully understand a time limit on tech support but that is not what this is. It is just a company growing and having to find other ways to make money rather than producing a great product that people want and value.
Also just my opinion/suggestion on the 3d and extension warehouse. Live components are a major step forward and I think it is only fair to make them available to current customers. I do not think it is fair to restrict older 3d models. Also, if I am prepared to pay for a developer’s extension, I should be able to download it. I have supported may great developers over the years. There are plenty of cost effective ways to license plugins. In my opinion it is just “free loading” on the hard work of the developers to control “encourage” upgrades
Not gonna lie, I feel that way everytime this latest version crashes…which is A LOT…but that’s for another topic…
Have you tried BIMbits? 3D warehouse isn’t the only library free library of Sketchup Dynamic components… It also has amazing Revit families & Archicad GDL components.
BIMBITS has oodles of quality free models with unlimited downloads & yes even for freeloaders.
I hope it helps. ![]()
I don’t see vehicles in it.
Nope there are no vehicles.
