You are using Sketchup Pro on too many machines

So, I am confused. No matter how many seats I buy, I cant get on more than one machine at a time? I want SU on my laptop and my home computer. I bought two seats. When I try to sign in, it says I am signed on too many computers, but I have an unassigned seat.

Is their system so that even if you guy a hundred, you can only use one at a time? What am I missing here. It cant be that ridiculous.

You can have a single seat and have SketchUp on your laptop and your home computer. You didn’t need to buy an extra seat. Do what Mike suggested, then sign out, and sign in again, and the message you saw should have gone away.

For the second seat that you didn’t need to buy, you should contact customer support and ask for a refund. You can contact them using this page:

https://help.sketchup.com/en/contact-support/billing-question/form

At the moment your two seats look to be in an unusual state. One shows as Pending and the other as Disabled. I don’t know what those states mean, but if you still are seeing an error message, mention that in your message to support, along with the request for a refund.

I have this problem. But, “Deauthorize All Users” has no apparent effect.
What I did:
Downloaded latest update (2022). Installed and moved to Applications folder per instructions.
Moved 2021 folder to trash.
What I am doing:
-Make sure that Sketchup Pro is not running on either Mac laptop and Mac desktop. Turn off laptop.
-Start Sketchup Pro by clicking on the icon in the Sketchup folder inside the Applications folder on Mac desktop.
-See window “You have exceeded your allowed activations”. Click on box “Manage your Activations”
-Web browser (Safari) window opens. Click on “My Products” box.
-Browser goes to “My Products” page. I click on “View Included Applications” under “Sketchup Pro, Annual Plan”.
-Box under "Sketchup Pro expands to show all products. I click on “Manage Devices” under “Sketchup Pro”.
-Dialog box opens “Confirm Deauthorization”. I click on “Deauthorize all”.
-Dialog box disappears and another opens “Success! Your changes have been completed” I click on “Done”
-I delete window “You have exceeded your allowed activations” and quit Sketchup.
-When I try to start sketchup again, I go through the same steps with the same results.

I have tried reinstalling the software, restarting the computer, quitting sketchup after appearance of the window “You have exceeded your allowed activations”, gone directly to the Trimble account management page, tried to delete and reinstate my seat, etc etc etc. Nothing works.

There is no ‘Deauthorize all users’ button, you can **only deauthorize the log in’s of the Trimble ID that currently is logged in the browser.

revoking or reassigning members (or yourself) also doesn’t have effect on the number of authorized devices. They are still registered on the servers of Trimble.

If you as user get that message, after you have deauthorized your devices, all you have to do is sign out in the App itself and then sign back in.

Try deleting the files listed here , You will need to quit all running instances of SketchUp and Layout before you do this :

  • If you can sign in but your SketchUp application still doesn’t work you may need to clear your sign-in credentials:
    • For Mac users, locate the login_session.dat file in your Library folder. (The path for this file should be Library/ApplicationSupport/SketchUp[Version Year]/login_session.dat)

If you aren’t familiar with unhiding this folder

  1. Hold down the Option key and open the Go menu in the Finder.
Result : A dropdown menu will appear.
  2. Select Library from the list of places.

Browse through to
Library/ApplicationSupport/SketchUp[Version Year]/login_session.dat)

If you as user get that message, after you have deauthorized your devices, all you have to do is sign out in the App itself and then sign back in.

How do I sign out of “the app itself”? I have not ever seen a “sign out” possibility in the app.

I deleted the file:
Library/ApplicationSupport/SketchUp[Version Year]/login_session.dat
for all Version Years where it appeared. I also deleted it from all Version Years my laptop. I sStill got “You are using Sketchup Pro on too many machines”.

So I removed these folders from my desktop computer:
Library/ApplicationSupport/SketchUp 2022
Library/ApplicationSupport/SketchUp 2021
Library/ApplicationSupport/Trimble Connect for SketchUp

Now the 2022 version seems to be running fine. The folder
Library/ApplicationSupport/SketchUp 2022
was reconstructed when I started the app. The others not.

Thank you for the excellent hints!

Serious programming error trying to protect against big users. Someone screwed up big time. Customers should never ever ever be abused like this??? Trimble got the BIG HEAD.

That’s confusing? I am on MacBook Pro only as Sketchup 2022 is not compatible with Mojave. I’ve tried everything they threw at me nothing seems to work. DeAutherize is a joke I am sure now. So did you buy a second seat? That’s big bucks for me.
