I’m currently trying to build a resource which identifies driver versions which pass or fail and with which video cards so we have it as a testing resource internally, so we have fuel to when we speak with the video card manufacturer and to hopefully be able to post a reliability article about in the Knowledge Center. If you could take the time to answer 5 questions below and just post them as a new post under this topic I would greatly appreciate it (be aware, this is not a troubleshooting thread and I will delete answers that aren’t answers to keep it from getting muddy in here.):
You can find all of this information in System Information by running “msinfo” or “msinfo32” from the Run line under the Start menu.
Which version of Windows are you using? What is the make and model of your video card? What is the current driver version installed on your system? Does SketchUp crash or generate an error on launch? What version of SketchUp are you attempting to launch?
eg.
Which version of Windows are you using?
Windows 8.1 Pro 6.3.9600 Build 9600 (Microsoft Surface Pro)
What is the make and model of your video card?
Intel HD Graphics 4000

Launches fine, without errors or crashes.
What version of SketchUp are you attempting to launch?
SketchUp Pro 2015 15.3.334 64-bit
Note: I will be prioritizing my investigation around SketchUp 2015 as it is the only version which we are actively maintaining with patches but feel free to note if you’re using an older version. If we’re seeing that SketchUp 2015 crashes with the same card/driver that worked fine in previous versions that will be good information as well.
How about setting up a spreadsheet, like this one Hardware Report - Google Sheets. A form can be set up, like this one for that old survey Hardware Report. Someone over at SU should have permission to edit and maintain that Google Doc spreadsheet
System: -Windows 7 Home Premium, 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
Card: -AMD Radeon™ HD 6380G
Driver: -8.861.1.2000
SketchUp: -No issues. Works fine I find. (except for the occasional “Troyan Horse” * )
SUVersion: -SU 2015 15.2.685 (I know!)
BTW maybe a bit OT?:
I just thought I would try update driver. (via Control Panel). (looked old too)
Started OK - Windows crashed !
No casualties (it seems) but this:
Before update and crash:
After:
Made restore. Back to before.
But maybe it can do better?
(Or just eventually new card. -Or new PC.)
Edit: * No offence meant. Kind of a good old friend now

Using a Dell 15" XPS laptop. Kinda old but still has a lot of punch. Running Windows 7 Professsional, 6.1.7601. The video card is an NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M w/ 1GB. I keep the drivers up to date. Seems to work well, there is little or no delay or stalling. I use either the laptop screen or an old 24" Dell monitor. I haven’t had any issues but I really haven’t pushed things either. I am using 2015 Pro.
Only problem I am having is getting the views in Layout to not be xray. They aren’t that way in Sketchup but in Layout they are. Anybody has some suggestions, I’m all ears.
