Does anyone know if it would run on a netbox? Considering setting up a chilblast microsystem for a friends workshop. He builds timber-frame buildings and designs using Sketchup but then prints out each section. Having it on a system in the workshop would be better but dosn’t want a full PC there. I think the processor would be ok (intel quad atom x5 z8350, quad core up to 1.9Ghz) but the graphics card is onboard, Intel HD graphics 400. Do you have any idea if it will run?
trying to run a 3D modeling aplication - which is demanding by design - on an ultra weak system (Atom is slooooow) is never a good idea… check the intel NUCs or build your own device based on a Shuttle barebone in connection with a core i3 … with an intel HD still being slow and with possible OpenGL issues depending on the driver version used.
thanks for your response, very helpful and has probably saved me £100 Maybe the Sketchup Viewer app would do what he wants… Anyone got any experience of it? can you open a plan from Sketchup and view all dimensions etc?
The viewer is basically SketchUp without any modelling or editing tools.
If you are following Norbert’s advice, use the £100 you saved to put in any Nvidia graphics card - even the cheapest you find will do better than an integrated Intel.
