Why the Asterisk?

Why the Asterisk at the end of the Sketchup file name in the top bar of the screen? I don’t know if I just noticed this or it indicates something on the file.

it means it hasn’t been saved.

on mac it’s been there for ages, and now it’s also here on PC in 24+

I think LO should implement the same feature. Maybe it does on Mac, but as of '24, it does not on PC.

Thank you.

Love that some of the Mac / Windows behaviors start to be merged in Sketchup. Amazingly annoying as well:

Filename~.skp: Mac Sketchup-backup File
Filename.skb: Windows Sketchup-backup File

Why? WHY? Pick one. It doesn’t matter. But if you work in a cross-platform world it’s maddening to have twice the amount of backup files than if you would just have Windows or Mac. :joy:

You mean Windows SketchUp backup file.

I think .skb should be used across the board. It would help users avoid opening and editing the backup accidentally.

Correct and agreed. I had a couple of bad edits from unsuspecting colleagues that worked on Mac-Backup-Files because they didn’t pay attention.

Yes. I’ve seen cases where Mac users have been working on the backup of the backup of a backup and not the original model. And then are frustrated because their edits don’t get reflected in their LayOut file.
