Updating multiple scenes

Struggling with this for a while now.

When I do all my scenes of a model to export to layout (say 40-50 scenes) if I then go in add in something new, I then have to go through and update every scene manually as the added item appears in every single scene.

Am I missing something really obvious that I can do, that means a group is removed from all scenes at once in a single update? I use the outliner more than I use tabs.

I dont mind it on a few scenes but once I hit 400 scenes (as I regularly do) and have to update each of them individually, it becomes the most soul destroying thing.

Thank you in advance

If you use tags to control visibility of the objects in your model as you should be doing, you can use aa plugin called Auto Invisible Layer to create new tags that are not visible in existing scenes. Then just turn the tag(s) on for the scenes where you want to show the object.

Thank you Dave, I’ll look into that plug in, I was just wondering if there was a way of doing it without one.

The only other option for updating tag visibility for scenes would be via the Scenes panel but if you already have different visibility states for different tags from scene to scene you would ball that up.

FWIW, I’m finding for my workflow less and less need to control visibility for tags in scenes in the SketchUp model because I can do that in LayOut per viewport. That also means I don’t need multiple scenes from the same camera position so I wind up needing many fewer scenes in the SketchUp model. That makes for much easier model management.

This extension has saved me many many times when I’ve added a new tag(s) to a model and needed to update all the scenes.

Paid for itself time and time again.
