My name is Alun and I have been using SketchUp for Schools in my Woodshop classes for over 3 years. My district has now blocked me from using it.
I am trying to get my district to approve the use of Sketchup for Education so I can continue to use it. We use the G Suite for Education and they are requiring a signed Student Data Privacy Agreement from Trimble.
I have pleaded my case with them and it doesn’t seem to matter that SketchUp for Schools complies with all federal regulations defined in COPPA and does not capture any personal identifiable information (SketchUp for Schools TOS)
If Trimble is unable to sign the Student Data Privacy Agreement is there anything that can be done to solve this issue? (email the SketchUp for Schools TOS directly to our Tech Services Dept.)
Hi @awynneaa , thanks for the post. I can link you to our terms of service (TOS) and electronic user license agreement (EULA) if that would be helpful. I can also tell the rest of the team about the issue if you would like although I am not sure if they would be able to assist at all.
If you want to keep using SketchUp, we do offer a free alternate version that you can use although you would need to use that version at home and not at school as it does not meet the requirements you mention.
SketchUp is dedicated to transparency in regards to how we are keeping our customer’s data private and secure.
SketchUp for Schools, which is integrated with G Suite for Education, complies with all federal regulations defined in COPPA and does not capture any personally identifiable information (PII). For more details on the SketchUp for Schools terms of service, please see: SketchUp For Schools TOS | SketchUphttps://www.sketchup.com/edu-tos
Can you send me an email with this statement in and something from your response to me:

I can forward then forward it to our Technology Department in the hopes of getting this approved.
Sure thing @awynneaa. Send me a private message and let me know what email I should send it to. After all, it is best practice not to post email addresses on a public forum. There are too many bots on the internet that harvest that sort of thing for it to be safe.
Ah, no worries! I’ll send you the initial private message so you can just reply to it. It would be faster to do that rather than try and walk you through the process.
