What do you mean? If you open a skp file it will obviously launch sketchup.

Have you tried a Repair? Find the install.exe, select it and right click and choose Run as Admin, follow the prompts and when given the option choose Repair, follow the prompts, reboot PC and try again.

I think I got it, you mean the welcome page. You can disable that option on the preferences, don’t remember where exactly but there’s an option to make sketchup opens the welcome page everytime you open it, even from a file.

and in the case where the selecting the different version in explorer doesn’t work - you need to make a few changes in the registry to the skpfile class items - i edit the older version to point to the later version and remove any really old ones (like 2 versions back).
