Unable to edit texture sketchup 2024

Hi
I am trying to edit the colour of one of the wood texturwes in the texture library, but it doesn´t change. I have done this several time earlier and cannot figure out what the problem might be.
I duplicate the texture, then click edit on the duplicate texture, and pick the colour I want, but nothing happens with the texture…Does anyone have any tips on what to do?
I am using Sketchup 2024 on a Mac Sonoma 14.4.1.

You cannot edit/change a material inside a texture library.
You need to apply that material to something in your model and then edit it within the model’s materials collection…

thanks - I have applied it to something inside my model, and try to edit it the way I always have done it, but it still doesn´t work…

You’re still trying to edit it within the collection. Select the texture in the In Model Colors. Click on the house icon. Edit it there.

Is this texture you’re editing one that comes with SketchUp?

BTW, please update your forum profile. It says you’re using SketchUp 2023.

In earlier versions, on Windows, if you edited a material in a collection, that was also in the model, the materials tray would be smart enough to edit the one inside the In Model set. You couldn’t edit a material that was only in a collection, the edit options would be grayed out.

On Mac, you could appear to be editing the material in the collection, and even apply it to a face in the model. It would then be in the Colors in Model set, looking like it did when you edited it in the collection.

There were two problems. One was that if you closed and reopened SketchUp, the material in the collection would be back to its original appearance. The bigger problem was that if you tried to rename a material in a collection, SketchUp would crash.

Instead of trying to fix the crashing issue, to still leave you with the other problem of your changes not being saved, the Mac version was changed to be more like Windows. Since 2024 came out you have to switch to the Colors in Model set to be able to edit a material.

Thanks for the info! Good to know!
