Architectural displays FEET and inches if the distance measured is 12 inches or longer. This is not new in SketchUp but has been this way since the beginning. Inches is grayed out when Architectural is selected because there’s nothing available to set there.
I have the same problem with my SU version 22.0.353. I’ve been using Sketchup for probably 2 decades and I’ve always been able to enter a distance/length/measurement in feet and inches while creating an object. Want to draw a line that is 19’-7" long, just start drawing and enter that dimension. Now it will only take an entry in inches. I’ve tried changing the settings in Model Info. If I do enter a distance in feet, as soon as I hit that foot designation (') I get a view change!!
How are you entering that distance? Are you adding the hyphen? If so, don’t. SketchUp has never used a hyphen iin dimension entry. Just type 19’7 and press Enter. You don’t even need the double quote mark. Hopefull you aren’t clicking in the Measurements box since that’s never been a thing either.
Nope, no hyphen or double quote entered. I don’t click in the box either; been using this software to make a living for literally decades! Here’s an example: I drew a line and entered 12’, then drew a box and entered 4’, 2’. I got a 12" line and a 4" x 2" box. I am using the Architectural settings in Model info.
YES, I had assigned 3 arrow keys for use with scenes, have always taken that approach because I don’t find that I need help with inferencing, but THAT fixed the problem. Thank you very much! What was the connection with the arrow keys?
. Arrow keys are reserved for system functions. If you try to map shortcuts to them the system substitutes other keys in a effort to preserve the arrow keys, I think the right arrow key automatically remaps to the ‘ key. In any case the arrow keys are much much more powerful in SketchUp if used for inference locking as intended by default.
