UI / email change for one time codes

,

Hi,

When logging in to most Sketchup / Trimble pages you lately (might depend on security settings) have to provide the one time code that get’s send to your mailbox.

If you copy and paste this code from the email, you most of the time copy the [space] that’s convieniently included right after the code before the break. Then on the login page, the field where you input doesn’t trim away spaces, so the form refuses your code.

Would it be possible to either remove the space in the email, or make sure the form trims it away?

It’s nothing major but all sketchup users together it’s a lot of clicks that can be easily avoided.

Thanks!

I have 48 of those emails from the last five years. I checked a lot of them, and they don’t have a space after the six digit code.

In case it’s a different email you mean, what is the Subject of the email?

At login yesterday, I too was sent the code with a trailing space so I can confirm what @Jenslathouwers says.

What was your email Subject?

I will check my emails on Windows as well, in case that’s important.

The system seems to use an automatic translator:

Trimble Identity -palvelun vahvistuskoodisi”

Here is a screenshot of the mail i received:

Maybe it’s language dependend? Ours come in dutch.

The subject of the mail is “Uw Trimble Identity verificatiecode”

For me, Trimble Identity is the sender. All of the message Subjects are ‘Your Trimble Identity Verification Code’.

I wonder if there is automatic translation going on, that might introduce spaces?

I did check my emails in a browser, and on Windows, and I have no spaces.

I tried Google Translate into French, Finnish, and Dutch, and none of them gained a space character.

I did work out how to use Edge, set to translate to Dutch, and then view the Trimble email translated. Still no extra space.

I will ask if we do the translation before sending. Maybe that adds the space.

I have no idea how it would be introduced  I can only tell it’s there. Making the form trim the space on the login page could also be a solution.

But thanks for checking!

This is kinda out there. What happens if the code is pasted, then tap the spacebar one time? Does it accept it?

I did test that, no, it’s invalid.

There is an internal form I can use, to send in issues. I’ve done that, let’s see what they say.

‘Trailing spaces’ is a (Windows?) phenomena to make it easier to insert a copied word inside a sentence etc. Holding shift when pasting usually takes care of it, or when double clicking to copy, don’t release the button with the second click, but slightly drag to the left.
