Thank you very much again
All my trees are in custom planters standing on the street
Sorry this a Lumion render
because I lost most of my TM renders as they were rather grand angle
I still have the previous TM version saved so I will reload it later and will see what I can do to separate
My planters have a layer of soil visible a few inches from the top as they would in reality. That is where I placed each and all of the trees
Do you mean to say the trees need to go deep into each planter and reach the street ground level? That would be insane
I would have to place them on the sidewalk and then push them into the planter
Do you mean to say they digital “root system” of the trees need to be in the ground?
The moment I am battling to decrease the land under my building for the original land NOT to cut trough it as there is no method do do the cut
So I imported some green rocky land and now find the impossibility to
chose my entire model and move it over the land
or the other way round
and still even without that I can’t seem to find the setting to see
the landscaping sculpting tools
The menus on the right are mindboggling when one imports something else
all the right seems to change and the file structure just becomes invisible
all their new videos are about the hype of clouds and HDR etc but don’t address
the basics.
The videos I found on basic paint and sculpt are mostly old and
the UI is changed since then
Its also insane when one looks for a landscape to import
Everything from trees to rocks et many more thing start to show up on the left
and it doesn’t stop the longer you are online the longer the list gets
Why they not put all things ONE landscape into on directory before
The new FAB setting is just bizarre
Anyway thanks for your time and efforts
I will start from scratch again import simple green land and then my model and see IF i can find the sculpting tools
even in their forum I type in sculpt or smooth etc NOTHING relevant comes up
Hello,
There’s a useful trick in twinmotion to quicky populate
It is actually possible to swap any component if imported correctly
I’m thinking of that because you could create a named object inside your planters component.
Once in twinmotion you can right click on one of them and select all instances, and replace them all at once with any assets.
I often do that for lights, for example
That way, if you move your planters in twinnotion the trees should follow. Or at least It is easy to relocate them back
The only thing I mean is that you can place your vegetation following different methods. I also said you can place it on the terrain or on your geometry.
If you place them on your geometry and if you reload your geometry, sometimes vegetation vanishes.
If you place vegetation or any other element by clicking on their icon inside the library and then clicking on geometry directly in the viewport, they won’t disappear. The times vegetation vanishes is when you use the populate tools on geometry and then you reload that geometry.
It doesn’t matter which geometry. What matters is that reloading it will erase vegetation that has been placed via populate tools.
As I have chosen each type of tree in the library to set in each planter to make it
visually interesting they were all set the way you described.
I haven’t yet learned or started to populate an area with vegetation of any type
as my vegetation is VERY limited in terms of just being random on a land.
Anyway all one can do it try
I still have to find out, how to reload a file in Twinmotion
Lately been making corrections in Sketchup as I always find things to improve
it never seems to end..
Thank you
Thank you very much
but in this project I don’t use populate
and I am not changing the planters at all
They are my guiding light for all layers to be in the right position.
I have miss managed some and that seems a real bummer to correct
just a few inches of the street or ground. To me at least as I am NOT
a highly qualified user
Still trying to find instruction and UI on how to RELOAD a file from same or new name
and then see if it’s a bingo with all my trees.
Where does one find really nice luxurious cars to place on the street
Twin motion library cars are terrible compared to Lumion.
Also I downloaded many thing, people, cars, landscapes, skies etc
but when I go into my library I don’t see anything
Does one need to click on the heart to stick them into a user library?
Thank you so much for your addressing my issues at first much appreciated
I know this the Sketchup forum but where else to go the TM forum is a cemetery
Hello
My apology for the late reply
I managed to recess the terrain in a new project
Now will see if I can import my model over that (and restart all the trees)
or learn how to import this excavated terrain under my existing model
…Thank you
IF I MAY:
I have some simulated floating walkways made of wood with sand in the middle like (sandbars)
for people to walk on top of my lake
I painted the top with SketchUP sand material
I am quite sure I can change that to Twin motion sand material
but I wonder to make the sand look more irregular at the surface
to you think I can use the surface tools on it
OR does the surface tools ONLY work on TM imported " surface materials" like
the all over green land one?
It would be fun to give it some small different changes like results of foot prints
it is an imaginary sandbank like in the tropics Philippines etc. Only I don’t want to start from the lake bottom upwards and it would use up my water space and disrupt my other sub water structures
It is supposed to become a game one day maybe
