Trouble copying & pasting geometry to new file

Hello,

I’ve been having trouble creating stairs within a complex model. So, I decided to make the stairs in a very simple file. Then I wanted to copy & paste that into my complex model.

I can paste the stairs into a simple file with no problems. However, if I try to paste the stairs into the complex model, the only thing that gets pasted is the blue box like you see in the attachment.

How can I successfully copy & paste the stairs into my complex model?

(At the architect’s request, I cannot show the complex model to anyone because it so private.)

Instead of copy/pasting geometry, try copy/pasting a component. In other words, make the stairs a component in your simple model and tag it. Then, copy it and paste it into your complex model. You should be able to see the component in the component menu and it should have the tag you assigned in the simple model.

The most likely reason is you have the relevant tags turned off in the ‘complex’ file.
