Trimble Connect Visualizer not working on iMac (macOS Ventura)

I am unable to tun Trimble Connect Visualizer on my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017) running macOS Ventura 13.7.4. The application does not launch, ant I have tried multiple troubleshooting steps without success.

I had forgotten about this, maybe an sketchup team member could tell us if it’s still under development now that sketchup 2025 can deliver better results than what Trimble connect visualizer used to do.

Thank you for your response! If Trimble Connect Visualizer is no longer actively developed, is there an official confirmation from Trimble or SketchUp team regarding its status? Also, does SketchUp 2025 have build-in features that fully replace what Visualizer used to offer? If so, I’d appreciate any recommendations on how to transition to SketchUp 2025 fir the same workflow.

I haven’t heard or read anything from Trimble about it, it may or may not be under development.

It was pretty basic imo, sketchup 2025 has a new style and PBR textures that are more customizable than what you could do on TCV. You should check the video showing the new features of the version.

TCV works in sketchup 2025. I just launched it. I haven’t checked if the new PBR materials are compatible or not. the new materials are not take into consideration, only their most basic aspect.

do you have several screens ? did you uninstall / reinstall it ?

I would check Aaron’s video indeed, SU25 might make TCV redundant now.

Thanks for your input! I appreciate you to testing TCV in SketchUp 2025. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but it still won’t launch on my iMac. I only have single screen setup, so multiple screens shouldn’t be the issue. Do you think there might be compatibility problems with macOS, or is there a specific way to launch it within SketchUp 2025? Also, if SU25 makes TVC redundant, do you recommend fully swiching to SkechUp 2025 for visualization instead?

To be able to use the new features of Sketchup 2025 like PBR materials, your hardware must be compatible with the new graphics engine, I see that you are using an intel iMac with AMD gpu, you should try installing the latest version and check if you can use the new graphics engine on the preferences.

Well, SU25 is better.

you can create a similar style as TCV, remove the lines (or use a very thin light grey set?), looking online, you can probably find a 360 HDRI environment that looks a bit like TCV, some of the native SU ones could do the trick.

the materials are better for a simple reason. You can actually edit them.
TCV converts everything as a medium plastic, neither shiny nor matte.

SU25 allows you to have metals that behave like metal. same with rougher materials. combine them with a decent environment and you get a clean result.

regarding the GPU requirement, it seems your GPU is fine with metal, despite being pre silicon era. It behaves like a M2-3 machine with metal. it’s just a benchmark but still.
you can check here

if your machine is compatible with metal 2 or 3 it should be fine.
