Total newbie here - first 3D model help!

Hi,

I am using SketchUp for the first time to help students use our 3D printer.

Student is making a coffee cup, the lid has a drinking hole in the top. When we import into our 3D printing software there is no hole.

We know it must be the way he has created the hole on the lid, so my question is - what tools should we be using to do it?!

Very basic level model so far - we followed this tutorial to create the model:

Any advice would be so welcomed, thank you!

The image on the right shows some reversed faces, that a problem for many slicers, you should reverse those faces so that all white faces are outside.
