Tile Material to show as black and white in elevations

I created a tile material in SketchUp that I need to view the outline of the tile and grout in layout in black and white for elevations. I have been using hidden line style for elevations, but since the tile is a material the outline will not appear. Any suggestions as to how to get around this? Thanks

Can you share the file so we see what you’re talking about ?

If your material is a texture, it will not show in Hidden Line Style. There are other ways to allow a material to show while everything else is white (ie like hidden line). You can also ‘stack viewports’ in LayOut…showing everything in Hidden line as your base…then copying the viewport, overriding all the tags except what has the tile material applied so it shows as the only thing ‘textured’ on the page.

Example hiddenline.pdf (118.7 KB)
Example Texture.pdf (593.4 KB)

Attached are photos of the area Im trying to show. Youll see when the texture style is on the tile placement is evident, but when i switch to hidden line style which i use for elevations the material obviously doesnt show anymore, but i need the tile and grout outline to appear so the contractors know how to lay it

I don’t see any tile or grout texture. Try again making sure your Texture mode is turned on. Note attaching jpg or png is easier for us as we can see it directly in the thread without opening or downloading separately. Here they are for others’ reference:

See my other post about materials not showing up in Hidden Line style. You need to actually have the tile modeled, as mentioned, use a workaround to show the material (where you want it) and hidden line styles combined.

I’ve done what you’re talking about with one viewport and the following settings (which include color by tag and hidden line style. The hexagon pattern was applied as a texture to the tag, then that tag applied to the tile component.

Thank you for this!
