Crash was out of nowhere, just when i download small file from Warehouse and that was the last part/detail just before preparing to save and render.
I didn’t write a bug report, because I know I have autosave, but that autosave when i open it says “This model failed file integrity checks and cannot be opened”
Worked on Sketchup 2024, tried to open in different version of Sketchup, importing file into new Sketchup model, check file extension and open .skb but its same, failed to open.
I guess that little file from the Warehouse caused my problem, but I can’t solve it, so please help me not to do the same thing again.
Thank you!
Which version of SketchUp 2024 are you using? It opened for me after trapping a bad object.
Update to SketchUp 2025 and you should be able to open it.
I notcie in your model incorrect tag usage.
Also a lot of hoarded unused components and materials.
Also some excessively large materials for what they add to your model.
After cleaning up your model the file is reduced by 67% and is much more manageable.
Upgrade to SketchUp 2025 and you should be able to work with your model again.
A note about downloading components from the 3D Warehouse: Don’t add components directly to your project. Download them into a separate SketchUp session. Check the components to make sure they are clean and usable. If you’re satisfied with the component after examinging it, copy it and paste it into your project file.
Thank you very much for the solution, advice and such a quick reply. Everything works!
Amen to that brother.
I downloaded a very innocent looking fridge component recently and inserted it into my project model. It caused my SU file to crash a lot so I went hunting and found the little scallywag.
Inserted components are a good place to check when a file gives problems. If you’re in trouble, try Isolating all the components and test them in another file- Or just always check them first before use as Dave suggests.
When in doubt, ask Dave.
