constantly used on . . .
if it helps you sleep better at night, then its fine . . .
It seems you are the one having issues with it not me, 6 hours for your first scathing comeback (which has since been deleted) and now another a day later. Get over it and understand that Caps lock is seen as Shouting when used in forums.
I’d also recommend you make sure you understand the risks you take when saving to an external hard drive, which you appear to have now fallen foul of.
Always save local and copy to other drives to avoid corrupt files.
Hi Colin,
I’m having the same problem, (This does not appear to be a sketchu model).
If you or anyone else could help me recover this file I would be very grateful.
The link is: WeTransfer - Send Large Files & Share Photos Online - Up to 2GB Free
That file seems to be badly corrupted. I couldn’t recover anything.
Even i got the exact same error while working on a model. My system crashed and i had to restart my pc but when i opened SketchUp file it showed exact same dialog box saying this doesn’t appear to be sketchup model followed with a bug splat errror. Can you kindly help?
Look in the same folder for backup file (same filename, ending with .skb instead of .skp). You could rename that file to be .skp, and see if it is in good condition.
If that doesn’t work you could put both files online somewhere, and give the link to the files.
Sure i did tried changing the skb file into skp but it didn’t work, also the size was reduced to 1.20 mb after the crash.
I’ll attach both the files shortly thank you for replying @colin
This happened with the free web version as indicated in your forum profile?
Yeah…
“Yeah…”
Then there would be no .skb file to rename. If you look at your files on your Trimble Connect storage you may find a history and an earlier version of the file.
The crash which happened was on alternate pc and is not related with the web version as mentioned on my profile.
That adds to the confusion. What version of SketchUp is actually involved?
Hi everyone, this seams to be a common problem…but i’m in a real trouble and need to open my files… any suggestion? @colin may i send you the file?
Same as getswifty, put the files online somewhere and reply with a link to the files.
That seems to be a random chunk of data from your drive. Small parts of it look like a SketchUp file, but most of the file is not like a model should look.
is there any possible way to retrieve the lost sketchup data and get it in one file? please this is urgent, id be really thankful if you can help @colin
No, there’s nothing in that file that could be used to recreate the model file.
thank you…
